"Just be yourself. Don't worry about these women. I am sure you have something they all don't have that will get you the job." Self-preservation. I am sure it will. "Just tell me your name."
"Harmony. Harmony Green." I told her.
"Nice name." She said this as she was writing on her clipboard.
"Thank you." I didn't know what else to say.
"I'll see you around, so don't run out on me." She winked and walked off to do whatever she did.
I really looked around after five minutes and realized that I was going to be here for a long time since I was last in line. I wish I was sitting down, but most of the chairs in the area are occupied.
The waiting would have been much shorter if I had someone to talk to, but the looks on the woman's face around me told me that's impossible. I guess they all hated me for what happened earlier, even though I wasn't the one who said those things about them. How could I? I don't even know any of these women in the room.
I hope this interview doesn't take long. I don't want to miss my show. I have been waiting all month to watch it. If I do this waiting, it better be worth it.
I looked at the clock again to see the second-hand move. One more minute, another minute, then another and another. How long has it been? Five more minutes. I groan. I better go get myself some coffee and something to eat. I walked back to the elevator and pressed the button to go down. It didn't take long to reach the lobby area.
One hour later, I was back in the incredibly long line of women. Two hours later, the line was half the length it was, and my feet were getting tired. This freaking line is longer than a sold-out Justin Bieber concert. Why do so many women have to show up for an assistant job? I groan, and I have done that since I arrived in this building. Who wouldn't stand in line for an hour waiting for an interview for a job? You are sure you don't have a chance.
Two hours later, and I am sitting still, waiting for my turn. I was getting tired of waiting, and my patience was running thin. I am only waiting this long because I know it pays well and it's the best place to start off. Maybe I could ask for a recommendation if I don't get the job, but that's an if.
This is the longest interview I have ever had. Someone of the girls comes out flustered and fixing themselves, which makes me wonder what's going on in that office.
"Green. Harmony Green." Finally, I don't think I was going to wait any longer. I got up and saw the girl that I was talking to earlier. "Right this way, Mr. Rivers will see you now."
I followed behind her, and now I am standing in front of the door of the office, waiting for her to knock. She knocked and waited. There was a husky coming in from the other side of the door, and she slowly opened the door.
I looked around the office once I was through the door. It had an all-black theme. The office was huge, with a couch and a bookshelf in the left corner, a desk and a leather chair in the middle, a minibar over in the right-hand corner, and all-glass to the back, allowing you to have a perfect view of the city. I bet it's beautiful at night.
Finally, the man sitting in the chair watched me stare. I didn't even realize that the lady who brought me here left, and we were the only ones left in the room. The room was silent as we stared at each other.
He was the first to break it. "Name?" He asked, not breaking eye contact with me.
"Harmony Green." I recited.
"You may have a seat now, Ms. Green." He said this as he was looking down on a paper in front of him.
I followed his instructions while sitting in the chair that was in front of his desk. He did not look up from what he was doing and stretched out his hands. For a second, I was confused, then realized that he wanted the documents that I had carried with me. I handed them over to him and waited while he looked through them.
