Frallica's frustrated screech brought L's attention back in a split second and she dodged another tentacle attack.
"Nice try but I have too many friends. You won't win here."
Frallica snarled, "I will have that knowledge before night falls and this world will bow before me."
She forced the Demon to pounce forward but L now knew its range and she dodged out of the way. Avoiding it was fine for now but she needed a way of attacking that would kill the Demon- this fight needed to end. L wouldn't be able to last forever and neither would the others. They would have to kill all of the Demons or be overrun by them. Some could run away to live for another day but L didn't see that happening.
Even at the distance she was now at, she could see her friends fighting furiously. They needed a conclusion before they all sacrificed themselves for nothing. L desperately tried something new as she avoided a spray of venom from what was supposed to be the Demon's mouth. She opened her own mouth, jumped and sprayed her Reptilian venom.
Between her lessons with Archie and the things she'd seen from the Demons she'd dealt with, as well as her own knowledge, she knew how it worked. It steamed as it flew through the air and landed on the Demon, it sizzled on the spot it landed and the Demon howled. L felt triumphant for a moment until the spot disappeared inside folds of shadowy darkness, and the Demon was unscathed once more.
L's disappointment must have been evident because Frallica howled out a laugh.
"You aren't nearly powerful enough to cause any real damage. My Craska are from a time of legend. You have nothing strong enough to beat them. Now come to me, little girl."
L bared her fangs and spat again in defiance this time. She hated to admit that Frallica might be right and she had no real knowledge about the Craska- except now she knew its name. She was in trouble. She thought about the fireball to her temple again but that was just another stalling tactic. She could actually go through with it but she wasn't ready to give up just yet.
There was something in the venom idea, it had worked but it just wasn't strong enough or maybe it wasn't deadly enough in Reptilian form. L could feel cogs trying to turn in the deep recesses of her mind, though not quite fast enough. She dodged another tentacle attack, jumping and flipping to get away from the chase.
She was back to facing Frallica when the loud beating of wings caught her attention again and an almighty roar echoed through the open land. L was dreading another Craska coming to the fight, it was hard enough with just one to fight by herself. Two of them would be impossible, although she would still go down fighting. She briefly glanced in the direction of the wings and felt her heart drop when she realised it had come from the direction of the base. Had it been breached already?
She worried about the Worcesters and Nyla. There was no way a single Were-Cat could have fought off one of these things. L hoped it wasn't going to be another chance to use bait against her. She couldn't handle watching another of her friends die.
She half watched the creature draw closer, but the murmurs that arose at its arrival were not what she would have expected. Some of the fights had stopped, as both Demons and Supernatural creatures stared up at it. Even Frallica was distracted, and to L's delight and further surprise, she looked worried for a moment.
"It can't... it can't be!" She muttered.
L smirked, "Not one of yours then?"
L jumped away from another attack, apparently the Craska didn't care what was coming. L managed to get enough time to scope out the arrival again and she narrowed her eyes. It looked strangely familiar but she couldn't believe her eyes, despite everything she had seen and done recently, this was unbelievable.
It made her laugh and she just hoped it was on their side because if not she was absolutely screwed. The surrounding fights resumed but L and Frallica were at a standstill. This new beast was coming straight towards them; it was purposely angling at their patch of road and L could decipher more details as it drew closer.
Yellowish-gold wings that had to be at least fifteen feet long, a strong, brown-scaled body whose size surpassed belief and shone with gold flecks in the last rays of the setting sun. A head bigger than L's room, covered in small horns and a tail that whipped off the tops of the trees like they were made of paper. It landed with a whoosh of air so strong it would have sent L flying if it weren't for her Ogre strength holding the ground. Although it did push Frallica and the Craska back a few feet.
It huffed and sniffed, standing beside L and looking down at her with an odd expression. L didn't really know if Dragons had expressions. She raised her brow at it, at least it wasn't trying to kill her or eat her, for the moment anyway.
"No, I don't believe it. Dragons haven't been seen in centuries. I wiped out several of them myself! This... this can't be real, it's a trick!" Frallica's strangled yell could be heard as she moved the Craska forward.
But no matter how much she protested, a fully fledged and beautiful Dragon was standing by L's side. L's mind began to flash of its own accord and knowledge was dredged up from the deepest depths of her mind. An entire history of how Dragons had roamed the earth centuries ago, of how they'd been hunted almost to extinction until a Keeper helped them transform into humans. A form they decided to keep and mingled into the masses, laying dormant and losing the ability and knowledge to ever be Dragons again, until now.
L blinked away the flashes and turned to the Dragon, "Are you here to help me then?"
The Dragon stared down at her and lowered its head. L was sure it was smiling at her and she stared into its brown eyes. They felt familiar somehow but was it just from the memories or something more? L reached out to touch the Dragon's head and suddenly someone else was speaking inside of her mind.
"L? L, come on... woah, this is awesome. L, can you hear me? As if you can't speak Dragon when you know every other species' language. This is insane!"
L's eyes widened, she pulled her hand away and stared around. "Robbie?"
The Dragon huffed and L felt her jaw drop when she peered into those eyes again; those brown, cow-like eyes that didn't seem to belong on a Dragon. Somehow her best friend had transformed into a humongous and impressive Dragon, and she was perfectly okay with it. She placed her hand on his scaled head and more talking erupted.
"Oh, L, you can hear me! Thank goodness, I thought I was going crazy. I heard your scream while I was asleep and loads of glass shattering and then all this mad stuff happened. Suddenly I was flying to you... is this her?"
"The one who wants to kill everyone, yes. We can discuss your situation later, do you think you're up for a fight?"
Robbie's Dragon mouth widened enough to bare its razor sharp teeth and L took that as a smirk.
"Definitely, everything comes so naturally. I don't even have to try, it's crazy, right? Do you know what's going on?"
"I think so but I'll explain everything later, we need to deal with this right now."
L knew what she needed to do and she climbed up Robbie's neck without thinking and sat in a gap between two of the spiky spines that ran down his back. They were designed to have someone ride there and L had to dismiss the knowledge she was being given. She wanted to admire and observe his transformation more but it would have to wait. Their interaction had barely lasted a few seconds and Frallica had gotten over her initial shock. She was rushing to attack.
L felt almost giddy now and she called to Frallica, "Looks like I have friends in high places, too."
"It still won't help you. I wiped out the Dragons before and I can do it again!" Frallica spat out her words with so much force, she almost fell forward on her Demon steed.
L patted Robbie's neck when he huffed angrily and called Frallica a few choice names. It seemed that as long as they were in contact they could talk to each other in their heads and L spoke just to Robbie.
"Let's get rid of this sick, twisted bitch once and for all."
