"Oi, ugly!" It took a few attempts because Frallica was watching Bryce's anguish with sickening glee.

She finally looked around and L was purposely smirking at her. "Yeah, I'm talking to you. Either you let him go or I destroy the thing you want most."

L created a fireball and held it near her temple. Frallica's glee disappeared in the blink of an eye and she narrowed her eyes in suspicion.

"You wouldn't dare. You'd die and little Princey here would be heartbroken." Her amusement only seemed half-baked now, she wasn't so sure about L's bluff.

L shook her head, "He knows it's my choice and I'd rather die than let someone else get killed because of me. This knowledge means too much to you, if you can even get it that is... but I'll destroy myself if you do anything else to him."

"L... no," Bryce choked out until the tentacle wrapped over his mouth.

L tried to signal him to be quiet and play along but the lack of oxygen must have been messing with his head.

"Let him go now or I die and all this knowledge is gone forever. You have three seconds."

"You wouldn't!"

"Three..."

"Restrain her!"

"Two!" L called as she easily dodged more tentacles and arms. "One!" L moved the fire an inch closer to her temple. If her hair had been any longer she would have singed it.

"FINE!" Frallica shouted and the Demon threw Bryce aside.

He hit the floor with a sickening crunch and was knocked unconscious.

L scowled and threw the fireball at the Demon, but it dodged it yet again. L was out of reach of the tentacles but her abilities were no good against this Demon. Now it was just her against them. She stepped back and kept stepping to draw it and Frallica away from Bryce. She conjured a magical barrier to shield him from any of the other stray Demons and hoped someone would be able to get him out of there before it failed.

Frallica and her pet followed L a little ways and they were still trying to grab her. When that didn't work the venom came back out to play. They missed every time but L was beginning to tire. The sun was starting to go down and nobody was around to help. L shot her magic again in a futile attempt and it still had no effect, if only she could get a clear attack on Frallica.

But she was too high and too well protected by the Demon she rode. L needed a magical ladder or the ability to fly, unfortunately, she hadn't gotten lessons on that from the Fairies or Pixies. Levitation was too slow and uncontrolled, she'd be a sitting duck and Elementals only gave her the ability to float across the ground.

Frallica was furious after L's threat to destroy herself. "Stop this. I am going to make you suffer more than anything you've ever felt, worse than your most feared nightmares. I'm going to make you beg for me to end your life and then I'll keep going. I have waited far too long to get my hands on this knowledge. Get her!"

The Demon suddenly lunged much further than L had thought it capable. Its tentacles burst at L and three of them wrapped around her legs, tripping her up.

L clawed at them and blasted them with magic but the tentacles just reformed. She was trapped. How could she have been caught so easily? The Demon dragged her in towards Frallica but before anyone could bat an eyelid, a bright light sliced through the tentacles like they were made of butter.

L scrambled back as fast as she could, jumping up to avoid any more tentacles and adjusting her stance to be ready. She peered around to see a blur disappearing the way they had just come. An amber light accompanied the blur and L knew she had seen it before. Realisation struck her and she smiled to herself; only two weapons had that light and they belonged to two of her favourite Elves.
