L didn't hold back, letting it bubble up to the surface. It erupted from her mouth in a blood-curdling scream, so forceful it stopped everyone from fighting as they covered their ears or heads. Even the Demons and Frallica were shaken by the scream. It bent trees in the way a gale-force wind would, stretching on for miles and shattering any nearby glass.
L steadily let the scream die but it had done nothing for the feeling that was bubbling inside; a red-hot, pulsating anger that was aimed solely at Frallica. L didn't just lunge this time, she pounced like a wild, ferocious animal and knocked aside any Demons who had managed to recover.
Bryce, Edra and the others had recovered from the scream and they were jumping back into the fighting, attempting to help L. But L didn't care what they were doing, she only had eyes for Frallica, who looked, intuitive of all things.
L avoided looking at Matilda's body as she attacked Frallica with a vicious onslaught. Fangs, claws, strength and every other offensive ability she could wield. Soon Frallica was starting to flail, she had wounds all over and L wasn't letting up. She didn't know what species' trait this was and she didn't have time to figure it out, all she knew was that she liked it.
Frallica was starting to tire but L could see that she wasn't doing enough damage. Her angry spurt was bound to run out at some point and then she'd be back to square one. None of her abilities were doing the trick but combining them seemed to be quite effective before. L decided to try it again when Frallica was pulled out of the fray. A high-level Demon had gotten close enough to help her. L attacked the Demon when it got in the way and they brawled for a moment until L gave it a blast of magic so big it created a small crater in the ground, under the dead Demon.
Frallica had used this time to get away from L. She hadn't gotten too far but she was whistling again and L knew what that whistle summoned. Sure enough, three winged Demons rose from one of the fields nearby and came flying towards them. Frallica was either planning to escape or she was bringing in reinforcements.
L attacked the oncoming Demons but the power of flight made it much harder. They rained down black fire and venom that L hastily had to dodge. They landed in the middle of the road, right next to Frallica and L got a better look at them. Mostly made of black, shapeless shadows, she could make out dark blue, fiery pits for eyes but that was the only feature. Instead of trying to leave with them, Frallica climbed onto the back of one and immediately charged at L.
"I want her alive. I don't care what state she's in just bring her to me!"
L backed away from the Demons for the moment. These were some of Frallica's highest and most prized minions, though L couldn't find any names for them. She wouldn't be able to just cut them down like she had the others and her angry burst was running out. L sent blast after blast of magic at the massive black bodies. Yet with each blow, they were able to get out of the way just in the nick of time. It was as though they were protected from her magic. She added Elf magic to the mix but that didn't work either, she would have to fight head-on against them.
L prepared herself and ran at the Demons, they were glaring at her and Frallica cackled loudly.
"You can't beat us all, stupid child. Your friend died for nothing and so did your parents. At least your death will have some meaning."
She sent the Demons to meet L and she resigned herself to the fact that if she couldn't beat them then she would die in the process. She could still remember the Council and Bryce droning on about the contingency plan but she ignored it. She couldn't take the risk that it wouldn't work.
L was within feet of the giant Demons when what L could only describe as the sound of a horn, sounded from somewhere nearby and a stampede of footsteps could be heard and felt, hurtling their way. Even the Demons turned to see what it was and L received yet another massive shock that day.
