There was banging on the door in the morning. I laid in bed, listening to Colt's door open and his footsteps echo down the hallway. There was a lack of sunshine in my room from the open window. It had to be early morning so I rolled over and pulled the blanket up to my chest.

Last night after everyone left, Ben stayed back and we talked. The conversation wasn't of anything important. Mostly about places and people we have seen or childhood stories. We talked late into the night on my bed. I had fallen asleep with my clothes and boots still on. Sometime after I had fallen asleep Ben had left to go to his own bed.

Voices rose in the hall, waking me. They were angry voices from the sounds of it. I strained to hear what they were saying. Lifting my head, I tried to hear with both ears but it was no use.

"Hey!" I heard Colt shout and heavy foot falls thudded down the hall. The first door was flung open, it banged against the wall. A few more foot falls then my door swung open. A man, who had to be part of the Orion, took up the entire door frame.

"Found her." He stepped into the room and I sprung up from my bed.

"Don't you dare touch me," I shot, my hand raised.

The man dismissed my threat and stepped toward me. He went to grab me but I stepped to the right, leaving me clear to get to the door. I ran to it, ignoring the tug of my shirt from behind.

Ripping myself from his grip, I ran into the hall at a full sprint. My body slammed into the wall.

"Hey," a voice called to my side. Glancing over, there were more men. One of them being April's father and another was Morgan. The two were surrounded by men I hadn't seen, but they had to be the tallest and strongest of the Settlement. Two of them held Colt against the wall.

"Get her!"

I pounded down the hall toward the back door. My mind raced to why they wanted me and why they would hold down Colt. Whatever it was, it couldn't be good. But the bigger question was, why was I running? There was nowhere to go, not in the Settlement.

Reaching the door, I flung it open and shot down the stairs. A body flung himself on top me, bringing us both to the dirt covered ground.

Arms tried to wrap around me while I continued to fight. Driving my elbow blindly into my attacker's nose, he released me enough that I was able to get myself half up before he grabbed my ankle, forcing me to crash back to the ground.

Two pairs of hands grabbed me, yanking me up.

"Why are you fighting us?" Morgan asked.

The two men who held me turned us to the back door where the men were exiting Colt's house. Colt stood near Morgan. His eyes calculating the situation.

"I'm not fighting," I said, trying to sound meek, "Your man attacked me and I am running for my life."

Porter laughed. "How far did you think you would go?"

I only glared at him before I looked back at Morgan. "What is going on?"

"You are being arrested," Morgan said, "For helping April and Gary escape the Settlement. Take her to the cell."

"What?" I snapped. The men dragged me away from the house. I didn't try to struggle as it was no use. I had nowhere to hide or run.

The sun was about to peak over the horizon and no one was out of their houses yet. I was pushed past the sleeping houses and the church.

Reaching Morgan's office, the two men pushed me into the cell.

And I was alone.

And I was alone
