Girls

why do we,
as women,
knock one another down,
and steal each others crowns?
why do we,
lie to each others
faces and laugh
when we get flustered with a scratch?
why do us women
judge our weights,
and say which is suppose to be natural?
girls, stop.
stop stepping all over each other
and start lifting us up.
you should have plenty of crowns
in your dusty closet
which you've taken over the years.
hand them out as compliments,
ones you mean by heart- not forced.
help us with your manicured hands,
or rough calloused ones.
us women are suppose to stand together
and protect our kind against this
cruel society we call home.
girls, learn to love one another.
but most importantly, girls,
learn to love thy self.

Authors Note:

Another annoying authors note- yes. Hello! And good afternoon, or night or morning. Thank you all so much for 200 reads!

I just wanted to stop in and say something about this book real quick!

I know it says 'Yellow Means Happy' but if you see a poem in here that doesn't seem all sunshine and rainbows- it's for me. In my eyes, happiness doesn't always mean yellow and smiles- sometimes it means that I have stepped out of my comfort zone, or dropped a toxic person out of my life and I am just plainly satisfied with myself and decided to share it with you all. Or other times it could be because I have a deeper thought within a poem and chose not to correspond it within the lines of rhyme or free verse. I do try to make these poems as encouraging and uplifting as possible for you beautiful readers.
