"We don't have Ogres on the Council in this country, but we weren't intending to continue with only the Council members are your teachers. You will progress onto other species once you get the hang of your training, and you'll need a variety of teachers. Speaking of, we must pick a new Elf tutor for you..." He stopped when he noticed the look of distaste on L's face. "Ah, but that can all wait until tomorrow. Go and enjoy the snow."

He ushered towards L, and she backed away to the door before they could change their minds. She saw Maeve and Walter in discussion as the Council dispersed, and L pondered what the two of them could be talking about.

In the time it took her to get outside, Gart and Lort had moved around to the front of the building and were waiting for her. The first thing she noticed was that their feet were bare, even in the cold snow. It didn't bother them in the slightest; they were smiling down at her, and she returned the smile.

"No training, could have been fun."

L laughed, "It could have been. We'll get to do that eventually, though, and you can teach me how to be strong."

Lort beamed down at her, "You already strong, make you stronger. But not taller, can't do that."

L laughed more and shook her head, "That's okay, I like my height... I guess I'll see you tomorrow then?"

They both nodded and trudged off with a wave.

L watched them go and saw the snow being crushed to nothing underneath their huge feet. She was almost excited about learning to be as strong as they were. She wasn't sure how it would be possible, but living among the Supernatural was chipping away at her ideas of possible and impossible.

She was about to turn and head off back to the house when she remembered her earlier curiosity. She had to go and see this wall Vadim had spoken of. Mrs Worcester had mentioned it as well, but she hadn't spoken nicely about it. L got the feeling from the description of what it could do that she wouldn't like it either.

She wasn't sure which way to go to find it, so she began to walk in a random direction. Vadim had said that it surrounded the whole base, so she would come to it eventually. It didn't take as long as L thought it would. She had only been walking down the path a few minutes when something came looming up in the distance.

It was an enormous stone wall that stretched high into the air. It looked real and solid, although she knew it had only been made to look that way. L frowned when she came to a stop in front of it a few seconds later. The wall must have been at least fifteen feet tall, if not higher. It was obvious that a magical wall could be deceiving. It might have been there to protect them, but it felt restricting and made L feel cold, somehow.

She used some of her stored up heat and moved back from the wall. She understood now why Mrs Worcester had spoken about it the way she had. L wondered if it would be worth it if they ever got attacked. Would the wall hold against a horde of Demons? She turned away from it to head back to the house when something caught her eye, movement further down the wall.

She focused and saw a figure standing near the wall as she had been. They were wearing a cloak with the hood up so she couldn't tell who or what they were. Their hands were raised to the wall, but they weren't touching it. L's confusion rose at the sound of them muttering something, and she decided to move closer.

She crept slowly with silent footsteps, moving steadily nearer to whoever it was in the hopes of being able to tell what they were doing. She just managed to get close enough to hear the words. "Soon, very soon." Before the stranger turned and ran off.

L blinked in surprise and chased after them as best she could without being seen. The stranger kept their hood up the entire time and took paths with fewer inhabitants living near. L could tell this wasn't just a random trip to the wall. Whoever it was, they were up to something. L kept sight of them until they reached a cluster of houses, and then she lost them in the crowds milling around the streets.
