They did care about her. They kept her safe from Supernatural danger while she was growing up. They'd brought countless species together before she had been born, so they were obviously good people, but they had also left her to this world of unanswered questions and unknown dangers. If it was to toughen her up, then they'd done a fantastic job.

In all honesty, she would have rather had her parents around instead. She examined the letter L, her initial, and wondered for what must have been the millionth time why they had used it instead of giving her a real name. It was just a letter, it didn't give her an identity and she'd already lacked that when they left her.

She snuggled down into the sofa, and while the fire roared, warming the cottage, it made L feel sleepy. She stared harder at the note and made a vow to herself. She would get every single question answered by the Council once they got back, no matter what or who tried to interrupt them. She would kidnap the whole Council if she had to. She didn't know how she'd manage it, and she wasn't about to touch Walter, but she would go to extremes to get her answers.

She didn't realise that she'd fallen asleep until she heard knocking on the front door. She jolted awake and noticed she was still holding her parents' note.

She stored it under one of the sofa cushions and ran to the door, calling out before opening it.

"Who is it?"

"It's Bryce. Can I come in?"

L unlocked the door and opened it to let him in. It was pouring with rain, and he was drenched. L glanced to the clock on the wall as she followed him into the living room. It was five-forty in the morning. The sun would be coming up in a few short hours.

She watched Bryce wringing out his hat and shaking the rain off his big bag. He was still smiling despite being soaked, and he walked over to sit in the chair by the fire.

"It's good that you managed to get some sleep. That might be rare to come by over the next few days."

L looked at him in confusion until he pointed to her hair, and she reached a hand up to feel that it was all mussed up. She didn't bother to fix it and walked over to sit on the sofa again.

Bryce was drying his hair by the fire when he pulled his familiar bag closer. L raised her brows at him.

"Do you take that bag to bed with you too?"

Bryce grinned and opened up the bag, "Yes I do, it has everything I might need inside should anything happen through the night, plus a few extra things for fun. I brought something for you, actually. I knew Matilda hadn't brought one over, and it looks like you'll need it if this rain is anything to go by."

L furrowed her brow at his words and watched him pull material out of his bag; it was dark red and had buttons at the neck. It wasn't until he passed it over, and she held it up in front of her that L realised it was a cloak. A long, beautiful cloak that looked way too big and way too nice for her.

She shook her head, "I can't wear that it's massive, and I'll stand out like a sore thumb."

Bryce chuckled despite shaking his head. "It'll change shape to match your height and body, don't worry. And besides, you won't stand out to anyone because Norms won't be able to see you now. Not unless you want them to. You're aware of your real status, which makes you Supernatural, like the rest of us."

L was stunned by the cloak, but also by what Bryce said. It was true that she knew she wasn't an ordinary human, and that made her like the rest of the community here. None of them could be seen by non-believers, and now she couldn't either. She didn't feel different knowing what she really was, but the outside world's view of her had changed.
