Dan Avery ran through the seemingly endless wheat field desperately trying to fly away. He didn't know what was gonna happen if they caught him, he didn't want to know. Suddenly he was off the ground, His wings had finally gotten enough strength to lift him off the ground. Sadly Dan Avery's victory was short-lived. A bullet tore through the top of his left wing and Dan plummeted towards the ground. The enemy surrounded him on the ground as one tall man with white hair stood over him smiling. The man reached an arm out go grab Dan Avery then, everything went black.

Dan Avery jolted awake. He stumbled out of bed and immediately looked at his left wing. No bullet marks. He looked at the clock, it was four thirty-six in the morning.

"Great" Dan muttered, "what am I supposed to do for the next two hours?"

"Well you could talk to your best friends older brother," a voice said from his open window

Dan spun around to face the window and walked quietly over to the open window. The surprised expression on his face quickly faded into slightly annoyed one.

"What are you doing here Truestar," Dan asked

Teddy climbed in Dan's room through the window closing it behind him.

"I dunno I got bored," Teddy said looking at Dans bookshelf

Dan Avery sighed. Teddy had been doing this almost every night for three years for reasons Dan didn't know.

"Why do you have a girl book?" Teddy asked holding up a copy of the latest vampire novel. "Danny? Is there anything you wanna tell me?"

"It's not a girl book, the movie made the romantic subplot way more exaggerated than it actually was" Dan muttered "and don't call me Danny"

"What would you prefer?" Teddy asked crossing his arms,

"Anything but Danny" Dan Avery said picking up his dirty laundry.

"Ok sweetheart," Teddy laughed

"Don't you have your own house? How about you go annoy people there," Dan said rolling his eyes.

"Fine sweetheart see you tomorrow," Teddy said climbing out of the window
Dan Avery sighed and laid back on his bed. For some reason, Dan couldn't stand Teddy, like every time Teddy talked to him Dan wanted to scream.
Dan decided it was pretty late and he might as well try to sleep, he'd worry about the dream in the morning.

(Teddy's P.O.V)
Teddy trudged home quietly kicking stones with every step. The sky would have been pitch black if it wasn't littered with stars.

"Stars" Teddy muttered "you'd think someone with the last name Truestar would care more about them,"

Teddy walked up to his house and sighed. The house was faded yellow and covered in dirt, the yard was littered with old toys broken bikes and trash, the grass was almost up to your knees. As silently as he could Teddy opened the door and walked into the house. The inside was almost as bad as the outside. The floor was covered in old cans and bottles the air smelled of smoke and alcohol.

"Your home late," A deep male voice said from the living room

Fear completely overtook Teddy.
"Sorry Dad I was doing something for school" His voice sounded small and terrified

"At four in the morning? Do you even care about this family? How am I supposed to eat? And Don't call me dad its Sir to you." Sir said his voice getting angry

"Sorry Sir, it won't happen again I promise," Teddy said looking down
Sir grabbed Teddy's wrist and forced him to make eye contact

"You know how I feel about promises Theodore" Sir said pulling a pocket knife out of his back pocket

"Yes Sir" Teddy mumbled his face going pale.

"If this happens again," Sir said tracing the knife across the two scars on Teddys cheek

"Yes Sir it won't happen again" Teddy squeaked

Sir threw Teddy on the ground "Now go to bed remember to wake up early to make breakfast"

Teddy nodded and ran upstairs closing his bedroom door behind him. Teddy leaned on his door and sunk down blinking back tears.

Dan woke up in his room once again. It was morning now, Dan Avery reluctantly sat up in his bed. He got ready for the day, he didn't know what he was getting ready for, maybe he'd go to his dad's restaurant and help out for a while, or go mess around in the woods until it got too dark to see.
Dan Avery slid down the banister and grabbed some fruit from the table.

"Danny when are you going to stay for breakfast," Dan's mother said ruffling his hair

"Mom stop I have a thing going on here," Dan Avery laughed fixing his hair

"Where are you off to so early in the morning? Got a hot date" She teased

"Mom!" Dan Avery felt his face get hot. Before his mom could embarrass him anymore he went out the door.

Dan managed to get two feet away from his house when he was stopped by none other the Teddy Truestar, But something looked off.

'Whats wrong Teddy, did you lose your three remaining brain cells" Dan laughed at his own joke, though it wasn't that funny

Teddy just shook his head, He looked up with one of the most serious expressions Dan had ever seen.

"Something bad happened, come with me" Teddy grabbed Dan's hand and dragged him into the woods

After what seemed like hours of walking Teddy stopped in a small clearing.
