From foreignity and experience
From royalty and poverty
(a mix of cultures I made my own)
I am from the pounding drums and bare feet
that stay in rhythm with my own heartbeat
I am from boxing and piano
From Withrow and Weijenberg
I am from the fighting and the crying
From "worthless" and "intellectual"
I am from multi linguistics and plane tickets
that change life directions in an instant
I am from illiteracy and education
From coffee and cassava
From locked doors and open nature
with mango and palm tree adventures
I am from the home and world I lost
to the family I have gained
Hidden in my words and under my bed
A cluster of memories and testament
I am from the fire- forged and grounded
from diversity and conquering
