"What did she hear about me?"

Bryce smiled cheekily when he looked at her this time, "That you're going to be very important to us."

L narrowed her eyes at him. He was being purposely cryptic, and it frustrated her immensely.

"That's not an answer. What did she say exactly?"

"Hmm, it gets lost in the translation, sorry, but we need to focus. There are a few stops that I want to make when we reach the city."

There was a city looming up ahead of them, but L knew he was just using it to sidetrack her from any more questions. She decided to let him for the time being, but she would come back to it eventually.

"What stops do we need to make?"

"You'll see, come on, I want to get in and out of there before morning rush hour starts."

That struck her as something very ordinary for him to say, and she suddenly remembered that it was a weekday- Tuesday, if she was counting right. There would be people going about their normal everyday business, going to work or school, or whatever they had planned. In the chaos of what had been going on, L had totally forgotten about school, her old life, and the Smiths, who might still be looking for her.

It hadn't really crossed her mind, and it almost made her laugh while she followed Bryce into the large and already bustling city. L hadn't caught the name when they'd entered, but it didn't matter since she knew they wouldn't be stopping here either. She kept following Bryce, who made his way down the streets until they reached a leisure centre.

L frowned up at the building and spoke from the corner of her mouth so as to avoid anyone seeing.

"Why are we stopping here? I thought you said we were on a tight schedule?"

Bryce smirked, "It's not for leisure purposes. They have wash facilities and a food court. You must need to freshen up by now, and we're going to be walking all day after this. I thought you'd appreciate the rest and some warm food."

L didn't mind the constant supply of sandwiches and crisps, but she was aware that she was starting to smell. She followed Bryce in, and they made their way towards the changing rooms. Bryce made her swear not to go anywhere else without him, and she readily agreed.

They went their separate ways and reunited a little while afterwards in the food court. L had showered and changed into a new set of clothes, which made her feel more like herself again. Though, she still had to wear the sunglasses as instructed by Bryce. He had changed clothes as well and came out without his beanie.

His long hair was loose around his shoulders and appeared to have been washed and dried. L was slightly taken aback to see him like that, though she couldn't understand why. She recovered herself quickly, however, and hoped he hadn't noticed. L ordered them both some food and smiled at the look on the cashier's face, who naturally assumed it was all for her.

After they'd finished eating, they had a moments rest before Bryce announced it was time to get going again. L felt much better after the refreshments and walked out with Bryce, who had put his beanie back on. They made their way out of the city and down more country roads. L felt like she'd ace a geography exam if she ever ended up taking another one.

They spent the rest of the day making their way further south. They spoke sporadically about meaningless things. Mostly about the journey, and L tried a few times to ask more in-depth questions that Bryce either wouldn't answer or gave a cryptic reply.

L had always liked moving from place to place, but it was the uncertainty that rocked her. Not knowing where they were going or if something was going to attack. Bryce tried to reassure he, and it worked for a while, but the same thoughts came back when she remembered both of the previous incidents. She was so grateful when Bryce finally stopped them a few hours later.
