anchor

I need an anchor

Before I drift off into the sea
The salty water already bathes my face
Coming from a source that never seems to empty

As vast and wide as the ocean
I spill myself into cold sheets
Slowly drowning

Closing my eyes
Fills my bed faster
And brings the water to my chest
The pressure is agonizing

Breathe
You're still above water, I say.
You're still near the shore
Don't stray
Too far
You're here

Here...

Where the water crashes into me in waves
Threatening to submerge me
I'll be fine.
