Inheritance (2019)

An egg sits in a murky cave

Not even a stir appears

But still, a crown on its head

Its pearl body glimmers

With an unearned triumph

But a victory nonetheless

The egg is cleansed with water

Water that gleams and whispers

Proclaiming the egg's distinction

But in the end

Despite the crown, the triumph, the water

The egg is just an egg
