CHAPTER TWENTY
Papa is an ambitious man. A dreamer.
He destroyed and killed people all for the name of glory and power.
Trigger King, whoever the hell he may be, wasn't obviously acting out of lunacy.
Even Gustave—he should know that my twin brother had been training since he was seven years old on how to lead the Castellanos family—how to kill people for the sake of family.
"Why don't you calm down? And let your brother handle him, Riri. Gustave has been dying to fight him," my sister-in-law said.
Mas kalmado siya kumpara sa akin.
"He will do it for the family. A bloody, competitive, and powerful combat would make Trigger King know where he belongs," dagdag pa nito at napailing na lang ako.
Wala pa rin iyong sense sa akin.
"Trigger King... he won the first Castellanos Game."
I could not forget that.
Ah, well, Lilah is a wife of Gustave.
He thought he could impose authority once he won the game.
If he wins the Castellanos Game, he can dispose of Trigger King.
"Your brother has promising fighting skills, Riri," Lilah said.
But how about that brute?
"You should have convinced Gustave not to fight. You're his wife, I mean, my brother will listen to you."
Lilah's ability to hide her composed behavior failed.
"Thank you for the reminder that I'm his wife, Riri. But your brother, as much as I hate to admit it," she gritted her teeth while saying it, "he doesn't listen to me."
"You could watch it with me. I have been given a front pass."
Is this the universe's way of telling me that I can't avoid the violence anymore?
"Would you be strong enough to do it?" Lilah asked me.
I forced a smile to her.
Her eyes sized me up.
My hands were sweaty with so much uneasiness.
Pagkatapos noon, lumipas nang mabilis ang araw.
At natagpuan ko ang sarili ko sa labas ng Sundar—a posh club in Makati, Ayala.
I wasn't delighted to go to Sundar and witness the bloody combat, but I needed to consider my words to Lilah.
