"I'm Charlie, Charlie— uh, Wyatt. Yeah, Charlie Wyatt," he muttered with some words not in sync.
The playful, but nervous brunet boy held my hand a moment too long making me blush in glee. Slowly letting go, he had a small smirk attached to his face before putting his blazer on his arm with his suitcase in the other.
"So, are you an intern here?" he asked as I grabbed my things.
"No, I'm actually an author. I have a meeting with Mr. Gray." I showed him my badge as his eyes leaped towards it for a second surprised.
"You're very young to be an ambassador," he sighed, "those badges take forever to get."
"Yeah, my boss, Natasha Gray, gave it to me after publishing my first book."
"You know Natasha?"
"Do you?" I asked curiosity playing with my words.
"Me and her and fairly close," he told trying to spare the details as I nodded.
"I'm late for my meeting, but I'll see you around," I told sparsely heading in a different directions.
I gave him a last smile before rushing down the halls towards the room. He was cute, but I felt that he held a bold facade. I didn't take much thought of the conversation before looking at my watch again seeing I'm ten minutes late. I had a contorted look of annoyance as I couldn't find room B79. My eyes scanned each room as my footsteps deepened in quick anxiousness.
Finally, I reached the door spotted with a few business men as my breathe was head uneasy. I tried to give a seamless smile before taking the closest seat, but they just snarled at me in annoyance. There were about six people there as most were in their late thirties and early forties, so being in such a sophisticated setting make them look superior compared to me feeling small and submissive.
"You're late," a man stood up goring at me.
He had dark raven hair, but some was already growing gray probably from the amount of stress he's taken. Everyone wore professional business attire along with a profound amount of suitcases and notepads on the table. The man then walked up to the front of the room as a chart was pulled showing a curvy red line.
"Ms. Martin, this is your book sales," he said pointing to the beginning of the graph, "it's going up, don't you see?"
I smiled to myself quaintly happy at my progress with the book. Sadly, that smile was short lived as we looked at the rest of the graph.
"And, here. This marks the sales from last week all the way to this morning, a dramatic difference. You were only going up having one of the best selling books in astounding records, but how could sales plummet just like that?" he snapped his fingers.
I stayed silence unsure of an answer. Everyone's eyes were boiling into my own making me want to sink into my chair. As words were about to suppress out of my mouth, a large bang from the door cracked the pressure in this room making me sigh in utter relief. Everyone's attention left me and towards the figure at the door.
It was Charlie.
"Sorry for being late," his eyes spot mine in surprise, "I had a bit of an issue with my coffee." he chuckled.
