Chapter 40 - Found

"What's wrong? What's happened? I knew I shouldn't have let you go alone." I chuckle.

"Everything is fine. We just captured some rogues that I need transported back to base."

"Oh okay. Consider it done, Izzy." I cut off the connection and walk into another cell. This rogue is already telling his guard all he knows while I watch amused,

"My name is Nicolas. We all follow the Boss. Only a special few know who he is. I know that he is an Alpha because everyone feels his power. Though he is less powerful than the bloodthirsty Alphas." He continues for a while and I leave. Nicolas doesn't know the identity of the person who tried to kill Elina. The next three rogues do not know either. They are all low level. I sigh, there is only one left who probably knows nothing either. I walk into his cell and order,

"Tell me your name and purpose, rogue." No answer. I am now intrigued by him. He is afraid of me, but is not saying anything like he knew something that the others did not know. I approach him and punch him in the stomach. I tell him,

"Answer me when I talk to you." Suddenly, I have this bad feeling in my stomach, a feeling of impending doom. Shit, shit, and shit! That cannot be good. I only have six warriors because I sent Elina and Alex back to base. Carson's warriors have not arrived yet. This is the perfect moment for an ambush. Forgetting the rogue momentarily, I turn around and warn the warriors,

"Ambush!" The rogue's eyes widen in surprise, confirming my theory. I rush into the hall way with the warriors, just in time to see about sixty rogues. I am still halfway injured from my last fight. I attempt to contact Belle, my wolf,

"Belle, I need you." She sluggishly answered,

"Can't, still healing from killing over three hundred rogues." I sigh. I guess I will have to do it on my own. I try to mind-link Carson, but it is blocked. At least, I have the warriors Carson has already sent and eventually he will figure out something is wrong. I get into attack position as the rogues untie their compatriots. One of them lunges at the nearest warrior and all hell breaks loose.

I punch, kick, and dodge. It was an uneven fight, one that we had no hopes of winning unless extra reinforcements arrived. Shit! Our mind-links are blocked and until I get a fatal wound, no one will realize. I've accepted my fate, but I will take the most down with me. My count was seven which was pretty good, all things considering. I look up at my next opponent. He had a crazed look in his eyes. This means that he is no longer anything but crazy. I get the first punch in his stomach, but he takes it and throws a quick jab into my leg. I fall and roll away from him. He goes after me, he wasn't giving up. He pulls out a knife out of nowhere. Shit, shit and shittier! I try to move to run, but he pins me down. I was tired from my injuries and fighting. There was no way to escape. He raised his sword up to deliver the final blow. I close my eyes to wait for it.

It never came. I open my eyes to see that ROGUES had made a circle around me, effectively protecting me from the crazy rogues. One of them mutters,

"The Boss just had to send the crazy ones!" Another says,

"Why in the hell are we protecting her?" They all yell at that one,

"Our wolves won't let her be killed." Now, that was an interesting piece of information. I saw that all the warriors had been slaughtered. I shuddered, poor Scott! My protective circle consisted of about twelve rogues. These must be the 'regular' rogues who had been sent to control the other 'crazy' rogues. One of the 'regular' rogues ordered the 'crazy' ones,
