I call Christina as soon as I can. I hear the click of her picking up. Before she can say the first word, I burst.

"Tris is gone!" I stammer.

Christina's confused, "I saw her coming out of the hospital."

"That's Beatrice," I correct her.

"What's the difference?"

"Beatrice is an Abnegation. Tris is a Dauntless."

She understands now. "WELL GET HER AWAY FROM ABNEGATION!"

I obey, say bye, and throw my phone onto the table.

I check the chasm first. Only the sounds of the water splashing against the rocks.

I move quickly towards the pit, where Lynn is standing. I run towards her. She deserves to know, right? She's also Tris's friend.

When I tell Lynn, she stares at me. She doesn't say anything. She just stares.

I leave her staring. It was getting kind of creepy, to be honest.

~

I find Beatrice looking at the train. She turns around when she sees me coming.

"How do we get on?" She's seen six trains pass her.

"You jump," I tell her simply.

She's staring at me. God, why's everyone staring at me?

"You what?"

"You jump."

I take her hand, and I pull her with me as I run. She's looking scared out of her mind.

I land on the handrail, and I press the button.

Beatrice follows me in, then looks at me curiously, from head to toe. What goes through my head is, "Is Beatrice checking me out?"

But of course not. She's Beatrice, not Tris.

"Who are you?"

"I'm Four."

I don't even want to say Tobias to Beatrice. She's going to bring it back to Marcus.

"A number as a name?"

I'm not even going to scold her for questioning.

"Yeah."

The ride is silent. I want to hold her in my arms, like always.

My Tris is gone. I've been given a Beatrice.

We arrive in Abnegation. Marcus is pacing back and forth near the grey houses.

"Are we jumping...?" Beatrice's voice is tiny.

I nod.

She watches me, and when I jump, she comes after me soon after, tumbling onto the floor.

I sigh. Tris Prior is really gone.

"Come over to Dauntless tomorrow," I beg her.

She looks uneasy.

"Please?" I beg.

She sighs, "Fine."

"I'll pick you up at ten AM."

Good thing she's selfless, or she'll definitely not come.

~

I get permission to spend the night at Marcus's.

After standing up for myself, he'll probably not come near me with his belt.

"Tobias. This is for your own good," I mimic him inside my head.

I pick up the little blue glass figurine by my bed.

"Evelyn chose me," comes into my head.

I smile, then dropping my head into my pillow I fall into a deep sleep.

~

I grunt as I awaken. 9:00 AM.

I push the blanket aside and stand up, making my way towards the bathroom.

When I'm done, Marcus is out of sight. Only a tray of scrambled eggs.

I forgotten how they tasted. I haven't had them since forever.

I put the yellow eggs into my mouth, thinking of Abnegation.

I really am a coward. I left Abnegation to get away from a fear. A true Dauntless would fight the fear.

"But you did, Tobias," a voice is whispering in my head.

I push it away, and at ten I'm knocking on Beatrice's door.

She opens the door, wearing a grey dress with her blonde hair tied into a bun.

"Come on."

Beatrice follows me to the train, and again I hold her as I board.

"We're jumping through the gap between the building and the train tracks," I tell her.

Beatrice is silent. Only a frightened look is on her face.

"How did you sleep?" I ask her quietly.

"Well," she responds, "How about you, Four?"

"Okay."

It's awkward again.

Thankfully, Christina texts, and short after, Lynn.

"Excuse me, I have to take this," I tell Beatrice, stepping away.

I explain the plan to both Christina and Lynn.

As I'm about to hang up, Beatrice walks over.

"The train is approaching the building," she says.

I take her hand as I run toward the platform. Beatrice is safe. I'm dangling off the edge.

I pull myself up, and she's standing on the edge, looking towards the hole. I don't think she remembers she's Divergent.

"Do we jump?"

"Yeah. Tell me when the coast is clear." I tell her.

She takes a huge breath, and to my surprise, she jumps before I do.

"Maybe Tris is still in there," I mutter to myself.

"I'M OUT!" Beatrice yells to me.

I jump, feeling the wind around me as I fall.

I land into the net, and smile when I see Beatrice.

"Welcome to Dauntless," I whisper.
