To all the pretty girls working hard,

with long hours, tired nights, early mornings,

and big dreams.

"Milea Andrews!" the lady shouted. I walked over to where she was standing with a clipboard in her hand. "You're hired. Please arrive at the Palace at 7.00 AM sharp. Latecomers are not to be tolerated." I eagerly nodded my head and thanked the lady.

I was hired. I was finally hired for the King's annual Lunar Ball!

No, i didn't mind the fact that i had to go to the Palace or the other fact that i might see a glimpse of the King, i was more excited about the pay.

You see, my people are what the werewolf society calls underdwellers. In a way, we are similar to an average wolf but also very different. We inherit some of their capabilities, so we don't age as fast as humans, our senses are also above the human capabilities but still not as good as average wolfs, and last, we also have mates. However, we can never shift unless it's the full moon and our healings are much slower.

Basically we were the outcasts in our society, frowned upon for being different. For being weak. Which was why we underdwellers decided to just move away and live among ourselves. The downside? We became poorer then the rest of the werewolf society. Now you see why i'm excited for the pay?

I hurriedly went back home, i wanted my parents to know that i could finally help them with our financial struggles. After walking down another 2 blocks i could finally see the street of my neighborhood. The houses here are small, but hey, it's still home.

I waved at my neighbor Leah who was playing on her yard with her Barbie doll, and proceeded to go inside the house.

"Mom! Dad! I'm home!" I shouted out while closing the door behind me. I ran towards the kitchen where i know my mom would be.

"Mom! Guess what? I got the job!" I yelled running towards her. She was sitting on the dinner table, peeling potatoes. Oh, guess we're having mashed potatoes again tonight. It's the third time this week.

"Oh honey, that's wonderful. I'm so proud of you baby." She smiled looking up at me. I grinned back towards her and asked her where my dad was.

"Your father will be back late tonight. He took over Andrew's shift for today." I sighed hearing my mom's words. It breaks my heart to see my dad works so hard just for a little bit of money. He always acts like he's okay, but deep down i know that he's tired. Both mentally and physically. Why does society always asks for so much?

"Okay, well let me just wash up." I told her while leaving the kitchen and towards my room. We didn't have the luxury to have a bathroom in each room, so we all shared 1 bathroom in the house.

I took my towel and pajamas and walked inside the bathroom. I stripped off all my clothes and got in the shower, letting the hot water wash away today's stress. Sighing, i turned off the water and proceeded to clean myself. After spending about another 10 minutes , i finally went out of the bathroom.

Just as i was drying my hair, i heard my mom yell. "Milea, dinner's ready!"

"Okay mom, just a minute. I'm drying my hair." I yelled back.

After my hair is all dry, i walked back into the kitchen, and instantly my stomach started to growl. Jesus, was that my stomach or were there any wolfs nearby. I sat next to my mom on the table and we proceeded to thank the moon goddess and ate our dinner. We talked about our day and i told her about the interview for my job.

I excitedly told her everything starting from how all the others there looked so professional and how this middle aged lady gave me a look and how i managed to convince them i was good enough for the job. We laughed alot, considering how unfortunate our situation was, i realized we still had alot to smile for.

Finishing my dinner, i quickly took all the plates and cleaned them before retiring back to my room.

Plopping down on my bed i took my phone and texted my bestfriend, Luca.

Yes, Luca's a guy. So what? Gender doesn't differentiate the fact that he's a really great friend.

From: Mileas Away

To: LuLuca

"Hey Loser, u still up?"

From: LuLuca

To: Mileas Away

"No, im asleep. Now go away."

Grouch.

From: Mileas Away

To : LuLuca

"So i guess you don't wanna know how i got the job for the Lunar Ball?"

In less then 30 seconds my phone started to vibrate. Haha! I knew that'll get his attention.

"You're fucking with me right?!" He rushed out once i picked up the call.

I giggled at his reaction, "No, of course not. I really did got the job." I told him.

"Well? Aren't you gonna tell me? So are you gonna see the king? Or did you see him already? Oh my gosh Lea! The pay! How much did they offer you?" He asked in one breath. Whoa, for someone who told me to go away, he's asking me to tell all of that? Nu uh sir.

"You know, for someone who told me to go away, why are you so curious now?" I said, trying to hide my giggles.

"No, you better start opening that mouth of yours young lady before i come over and make that happen." He said.

I laughed hearing his words and started telling him the whole story just because i know he's probably gonna really come over if i didn't start talking.

"Well, to start off i had to convince them that i was more then capable for the job, took me almost 15 minutes for that," i said rolling my eyes, "and no, i haven't seen the king yet nor do i think will i ever get to. And they pay..Luca the pay." I said

"Well? What? What about the pay?" He asked.

"Luca they're paying me $3 an hour and i work 5 days a week. Do you know how much i can save up in a month? More or less $200! I can help my parents Luc." I whispered out.

"Oh baby girl, i'm so proud of you. Well, best of luck for you, i know you're gonna be just fine." He said softly.

I thanked him and told him that i gotta go. Ay, being poor doesnt mean you still cant have your beauty sleep right? Priorities here people. I probably have to get up at 5.30 tomorrow, i internally groaned.

I hung up the phone and turned off the lights. I snuggled back into bed and looked out the window.

I fell asleep thinking about tomorrow, well, more like dreaming of tomorrow.
