Happy endings—they aren't for everyone.

Harry was sitting at the table as his friends surrounded him, cheerily eating and laughing along. The clicking of the plates and utensils grew louder and louder, and the deafening chatter was static to him, for everything now seemed black and white.

Draco sat opposite to Harry and longed to memorize his face once again. He was gone and nothing felt the same anymore, the glimmer that was once in his eyes where gone, his lips was crooked and never smiled, and his expression was dull, as if it never lit up again.

Both felt lifeless and incomplete though it troubled them to speak up and try to reconcile to one another, and so no one did. The same noise and the same darkness filled the minds of Harry and Draco, happiness was once theirs but it didn't stay for long.

The memories they wanted to forget so badly, yet stay in their hearts, lingered around and were crystal for it seemed like a video replaying in their heads.

[Harry's memories]

Harry remembered when they once stayed underneath the quiet moonlit night, whilst their hands were intertwined, never letting go. The breeze was cool and everything just seemed right to them.

They talked about life and opened their hearts to each other, all good and bad times that have been. Draco began to cry after a few words escaped his mouth, telling Harry something he has never said before to anyone. This was the first time Draco ever trusted him and let him in the burdens of his life that he has been carrying alone for so long, and Harry wanted nothing but to ease all of his pain and to protect her in every way he could.

He looked into Draco's platinum eyes, wiping the tears away, they looked gorgeous when the full moon hit them and he could stare at them for days if he could, held his hand as if it was the lost puzzle he's been finding his whole life, and realized that he loved Draco, and would never find that fuzzy feeling in his stomach again with a person that wasn't him.

"Draco?", he whispered. Draco looked at him in reply.

"I just never want you to forget that you're the most important person in my life, and I'd do anything to prove that to you. You aren't worthless, and you aren't ugly, please believe me when I say that. I love you so much Dray, and thank you for trusting me enough to be vulnerable around me."

They both smiled and pulled each othis into a tight hug, never wanting to let go. They were meant to be and nothing could ruin their forever, but that's what Harry thought, because soon they would meet their end, the last chapter of their story. He wanted everything to be perfect and make sure that Draco was happy, but the aching of the heart and the pain that was inevitable didn't want them to be together.

[Draco's memories]

Draco could never let that day in the field, where they could just escape reality and be with one another without anything or anyone bothering them, slip away his mind. They ran around chasing each other as their love lingered in the air, laughing and feeling nothing but pure bliss in that moment.

Draco finally caught Harry after quite some time and held Harry from the back as he listened to his laugh that seemed like music to him, it was something he could never get tired of hearing, and Draco wanted to be the very reason Harry laughs and smiles whenever he's down. After a while, they both sat down the fresh summer grass and Harry played the guitar, Draco smiled and listened to the buzzing of the strings through his fingers. He fell in love with Harry and how beautiful he was in the sunset, he never wanted to forget that perfect photo in his head.

After Harry was finished they looked at each other lovingly, and Draco couldn't help but connect their lips together into a soft kiss, Harry's hands wrapped around Draco while Draco bruhed his hands through his hair. They pulled away and knew that they wanted to stay like this forever, but the world that was outside, so cruel and bitter, wouldn't let them.

Hope didn't meet them today, but someday fate will bring them together and no longer pull them apart, and soon they would relive the moments that were happy and filled with love, but today wasn't the day. No, today was just another day filled with tears and regret, and knowing that nothing could bring back the past that brought them nothing but happiness, for days like this seemed dark and lonely.
