"Yes I did, she was from the Crescent Moon Pack but she's coming to stay with me here tomorrow, I see Kayden found his mate Aswell" he spoke back looking at her.

"Yes he did, it's too bad she's in this condition though.."

He nodded then looked back at me and sighed. "This will be tuff for him, all I've done was sit here and I can feel the fear grow within her the longer I stay" he looks down sad.
"I'm going to find Kayden so I can speak with him"
The man left with a nod and was followed by the she wolf out.

I calm down a bit but I don't dare close my eyes this time, I need to know when the attack is coming, these people don't make sense.

Kayden's POV

I was speaking with the doctor outside of my mates room, he was telling me when she could come to my room and what we can do to help the situation.
We settled on her coming later today after Nate had a look at her, he my brother and best friend, he was also our best doctor.
He's older than me so the Alpha position should have gone to him but he was always too interested in becoming a doctor and his personality wasn't at all demanding like an Alphas.
He told me he was coming in some time today so I thought I would get some paperwork done before he came.

I wanted so badly to stay by my mates side but she was so scared of me that she often had panic attacks and her heart monitor would go crazy, and doing paperwork would help get my mind off her..

"Alpha, Nate is here and he just had a look at your mate he wants to speak to you" The nurse spoke through the mind link.

"Ok thank you for informing me"

I looked at the clock and two hours have passed, I got up not bothering to put the paper work away I just rushed to the hospital.
Once I got through the door I spotted my friend and went in for a hug.
"It's good to see you Nate, did you find your mate?"

"I did, her name is Sandra she's from the Crescent Moon Pack that's why it took so long, her pack is so far away"

I was glad that he found his mate, he's 21 so he's been waiting a long time to find her as well. I was very eagerly awaiting his reply on how my mate was.
"I'm really happy for you. But what did you get from the state of my mate?" I say cautiously hoping it was good news.

"Well it's not all that good.." here we go I was hoping not to hear those words. "I stayed with her for about 10 minutes until nurse Meilla came in to check on her, your mate barely moved at all and her fear only rose the longer I stayed with her, it's like she was bracing her self just waiting for me to attack or something. I also noticed she sat up bowing her head when I walked in does she do that often?"

I looked down upset with his information "yes she does, it's like that's how she was taught to greet people" I trusted Nate's words, he was familiar with abused patients from his stay at the Full Moon Pack, which was close with the royal pack Golden Moon, and they would go undercover to check packs to make sure everyone was following the laws, Nate was the doctor who treated the patients that were treated poorly.

"Has she shifted yet" he replied concerned.

"No"

"Kayden I haven't seen anything like her before, it's almost as if she was trained, even through all her fear she greets people. With patents I used to treat, they would only cower and could shift so they were more useful in doing chores.." He got quiet and looked at me with worry "I'm not sure if she was treated like a human Kayden.. I was confused so I told her to lay down.. and she did instantly"

It was an absolute disgrace to treat a werewolf like a dog, we were nothing like dogs.
I snarled in disgust "do you mean to tell me she was trained like a dog"

"Kayden I don't know yet but it's looking that way" he said and I wanted to throw up.

"Nate I need to go for a run to process this"

"Of course Kayden.. I'll come and accompany you in about an hour is that ok?" Nate knew me to well, he knew I'd want to just run as fast as I could for a while then when I stop I'd feel empty and lonely..

I nodded to my brother before I left the building, this was too much to take in. My mate, the one I've been waiting for for 2 years was trained to be.. to be a dog! No the beautiful person I know she is but an animal..
what if she never becomes normal? What if she never expresses the emotions she wants but the ones she feels she needs to? Will I see the true her that was buried so long ago..

By now we were shifted and running at full speed seeing the cloud of heat that escaped my lips every time we huffed out was all I could focus on, the trees only going by in a blur, I thought of nothing and everything.. this was painful for me I just wanted to cry..
I couldn't help but stop at that lake and let out a deep howl filled with my emotions, I let them all out. The anger, the sadness, grief, pain just all of it..
I collapse to the ground huffing.. my sweet mate why must you go through so much pain, you deserve non of this.

I buried my nose in the snow between my legs and just lay there while a few tears disappeared into the snow.
the cold started to sting but I didn't care.

I felt a cold noes nudge into the scruff of my neck as Nate lay in front of me, he put his leg over mine and rested his muzzle on my forehead.
I lifted my face out of the ground and stuffed it into the fluff of his chest. He just lay there comforting me with his presence.
I couldn't help but let a few more tears fall down.

Nate will forever be the big brother, he always knows what to do. I can be such a child.. I'm lucky to have him in my life.
