JAEMIN
our homeroom teacher steps into our noisy class and hollers at us to be quiet.
everyone surprisingly followed orders and returned to their designated seat. hana sitting beside me shifts uncomfortably in her seat and i couldn't help but crack a tiny smile.
"listen up, all of you. we have a last minute addition to our class for the next half of the year. please put your hands together to welcome him."
the class exchanged glances with each other, as they started clapping, probably amazed that someone suddenly transferred into the class in the middle of a school term.
a tall student strides into the classroom with a confident smile and started speaking. i found him oddly familiar, as if i had seen him somewhere before.
"hello, my name is park wooyoung, and my sports scholarship here just got accepted. i apologise for coming late." he bows politely, and only when he introduced his name did i realise who he was.
the teacher then directed wooyoung to his seat...which was quite unfortunately the column beside hana's. the only thing separating the two of them was a single walkway.
i cast a side glance at hana beside me who refused to turn her head to her right.
i frown, and whispered to her, "hana...are you okay?"
i saw her gulp and she nods.
i wasn't very convinced, but i could only take her word for it.

HANA
i wanted to do some self studying in school to prepare for the upcoming term exams, so i made my way to the school's luscious library.
i found a seat and sat down, taking out my study materials and notes that were spread across the table.
there wasn't many students in the library since most of them either had extra talent classes or they had their personal tutors at home.
i picked up my pen and flipped open my first textbook, but paused as i reminded myself how the current situation was similar to when jaemin and i were at the library.
thoughts of his confession to me the day before unwillingly invaded my mind and caused me to blush.
"ugh." i pull my lips into a thin line and placed my pen back onto the desk.
if i were in a relationship with jaemin that was more than the realm of friends, would this be like a cliche drama that his parents wouldn't approve of me?
moreover, these feelings of butterflies in my stomach and momentarily thinking of him...was it that i actually really liked him?
i can't help but be in a dilemma. whatever i was feeling now was totally different from...how i felt for wooyoung.
but jaemin...would he turn out to be the same as him?
i sighed as i shook these thoughts out of my head.
focus!
i told myself, but before i could even pick up my pen again, the chair opposite of me gets pulled out and someone sat on it.
i slowly look up from my textbook to see...
"why are you here?" my voice came out as an unwelcoming one.
the boy opposite of me smiles. "this is the school library. i'm here to study, just like you, of course. come to think of it..."
his smile widens. "libraries are quite nostalgic, don't you agree?"
"if you're here to mock or insult me again, please leave."
"i'm not. i think you're misunderstanding me...you must know i'm always the sarcastic type, hana. the library is the place we first met in Busan, and the place where we started to become good...friends."
i let out a slow breath. "yes, i know that."
"we need to talk, hana."
"no, there's nothing to be said."
"look, the things that happened in Busan. i didn't mean any of it."
"yeah? i really did think you were a nice guy in Busan, wooyoung. someone who works hard. that's why i had my...stupid crush on you. but you were the one who broke our friendship first by saying all those mean things to me. i don't want to hear your excuses,"
i slam my book shut. "since you're not leaving, i am." i snap, packing all of my materials in a hurry and ran out of the library.

closing the staff room's door behind me, i was startled when i saw hana rush past me in a hurry.
"hana...?" i mumbled to myself as i look at her retreating figure and when i heard quick footsteps behind, i turned around to see wooyoung.
i put one and one together and came to a sudden realisation. before he could walk past me, i hastily grabbed his shoulder.
he turned around in astonishment but his features soon returned to normal as he saw me.
"oh, you're the one who was with hana the other day." he said, and that made me frown.
"you speak as if you know her very well." i pull away from him and he laughs.
"of course i do. we were good friends in our previous school in Busan."
"...why are you chasing her?" i ignored his clarification.
"me? well...you know, it's really none of your business. who are you, anyways?" he cocks his head to the side with a lopsided grin.
i hated how he was slightly taller than i was.
"jaemin, na jaemin. and i'm someone who appreciates hana, unlike you."
his eyes narrow curiously. "seems like she's been hanging out with you a lot if you know whatever that's happened. well then,"
the corner of his lips curled up into a smile. "you like her, don't you?"
i return his smile with a proud smile of my own. "that's right, so stop harassing hana already."
he chuckles. "really now? that isn't very fair, because you know, na jaemin, i seriously feel the same way as you."

A/N: hmm, why has wooyoung suddenly changed his mind? and what a twist, seems like hana and wooyoung were on good relations before she confessed!
