HANA
"alright everyone, settle down. i'll be announcing the groupings for your upcoming history project." the history teacher hollers as soon as she stepped into the classroom.
"all of you will be placed in pairs. to make things easier, i decided to simply pair each of you with your seat mate."
a few groans echoed throughout the room. i notice a few heads turning back to look in my direction.
i discreetly glance at jaemin sitting beside me and is reminded of what he told me last week.
a look of displeasure flashed across his features for a split second, but he soon returned to his regular smiling look.
"the deadline for the project is next friday, exactly one week from now. i trust that you all will be punctual. that's all for now." the history teacher wraps up her mini announcement and promptly leaves the room.
i hear jaemin sigh beside me as he gets off his seat with his bag slung across his shoulder.
the other students also begin pouring out of the classroom, not forgetting to send a glance in my direction.

that night, i encounter jaemin at the convenience store once again.
"you know what i said that day? forget about it, that can't be possible..." he trails off, looking up from his ramyun. "i'm sorry about that."
he looked sincerely apologetic.
"hey, i don't really mind, i can take care of myself. i don't need anyone to look out for me. i'm fine." i quickly reply.
unexpectedly, jaemin breaks into a large grin. "you're just as i expected."
"what?" i exclaim.
he shakes his head, smile still etched on his face.
"nothing," he pushes himself off his plastic chair, an empty cup ramyun in hand.
"tomorrow's a Saturday. how does meeting up at the local library for research sound like?" he asks before he leaves.
"huh? um, that's fine i guess." i reply hesitantly.
"great, see you tomorrow at noon over here, then." his smile seemingly widens as i accepted his invite. he quickly ruffles my hair before tossing his cup ramyun into the nearest bin and walked off.
JAEMIN
"jaemin." i was playing a game on my phone when someone taps me on my shoulder.
i turn around to see hana with an smile on her face. she wore a black t-shirt with black ripped jeans accompanied with a navy blue jacket that was tied loosely around her waist.
surprisingly, i was wearing something quite similar to hers.
"uh-uhm, i look weird, don't i?" she brings her hand to her neck, a nervous smile on her lips. i only then realised i was staring and cleared my throat.
"no, not at all," i flash a wide grin. "you're...you look very pretty."
with that, her cheeks gradually turned into a shade of pink and i chuckled at the sight.
"come on, let's go." i gently took her hand in mine as we headed to the public library.

THIRD PERSON
the two decided that hana could search for the related books and jaemin would stay at their desk to search the web.
so hana set off by herself towards the shelves of books, picking out a few books in hand.
she had about four thick books stacked vertically and her left hand kept the books upright. she determined that that was probably enough for now and was on the way back to jaemin when...
...she accidentally knocks into someone, her books toppling over as she fell forward.
luckily for her, whoever she bumped into managed to break her fall by holding her firmly by her shoulders.
"i'm sorry...are you alright?" a worried voice spoke up, and hana nods looking up at the voice.
she gasped softly as soon as she realised who he was.
park wooyoung?! what's he doing here?
she swiftly looked away and crouched down, retrieving her books from the ground, hoping that he didn't recognise her.
"i'm okay. thanks." when she abruptly stood up and was about to leave, she was stopped by the wrist.
hana turns around in surprise, and she probably shouldn't have.
wooyoung's lips slowly curved into a cocky grin. "i thought you looked familiar, kang hana. long time no see?" he greeted her.
she blinked, her body trembling under his touch.
"w-wooyoung..." she gulps nervously. she would've opted to struggle and run away, but they were in the library.
"looks like you're not the nerd you used to be, huh? what happened to your thick glasses?" he cackled and hana bit down on her lip and closed her eyes to try and stop herself from shaking.
nerd. sorry, you're not my type.
his words ran through her mind.
oh, god, can he go away?
she wanted to say, but for some reason couldn't find the courage to.
please help me, jaemin...
was the first thought that came to her mind. and as if he had heard her prayers, a familiar voice interrupts their conversation.
"hana?" she timidly cracked open her eyes to see jaemin frowning as his eyes trailed from wooyoung to her, and then to her wrist.
wooyoung cocks a brow and smirks, letting go of her hand as he sees jaemin.
"seems like you have a date. sorry for interrupting." wooyoung shrugs, walking past jaemin and out of the library.
jaemin quickly jogs up to hana who seemed like she was going to break into tears anytime soon.
he holds her by her shoulders and carefully leads her back to their table.
"sorry, jaemin...let's continue." her voice cracked as she mumbled those words.
jaemin frowns, shaking his head. "are you crazy? you're not fine at all. i'm taking you home."
with that, he packs up all their materials and the two left the library.
