Ten years later...

Harry is almost eleven, and he lives in a tiny cupboard under the stairs. The Dursleys, especially their spoiled son Dudley, mistreat Harry.

It's Dudley's birthday, so everything has to be perfect. Every year on Dudley's birthday, Harry is sent to a woman's house to stay for the whole day. This time, she can't take care of Harry, so he has to spend the day with Dudley and Piers, Dudley's best friend.

They go to the zoo, and Harry realizes he can talk to snakes. The snake told him that it was from Brazil and never went there before. Harry felt sorry for the snake. Suddenly, the glass disappeared, and the snake slithered out. It said, "Thank you so much" to Harry, and glided off to Brazil.

Harry was punished by the Dursleys. He was confused. Why could he talk to the snake? Why had the glass vanished? Where did the glass go? Was this magic?
