"Pick up Helena!" I  hushed desperately at my phone but the red-headed girl never did.

Losing the last bits of my composure, I went back to calling Lia over and over again. Say that I am being overprotective or whatever you please but I do think of her as a close friend of mine, I care for her, respect her a lot and did vow to her father that I will look after her and keep her safe. Between missed calls, my phone beeped announcing that I got a new text.

From Helena  ---" Lia is having a bad day. She will be fine but let her be alone today. She needs to clear her mind about somethings."

To Helena       ---" Bad day? Why is that? Is she okay?" I typed rapidly.

From Helena --- "Not my place to tell you but she will be okay, I promise."

To Helena       --- "Isn't she coming ?"

From Helena --- "We just reached the company. Don't bombard her though. If she needs you, she will call for you."

To Helena      --- "Okay..." I typed feeling myself getting more nervous and anxious. What can is wrong with Lia? Why is she having a bad day and it is still this early? Did something bad happen to her last night? Is she hurt ? Am I supposed to beat someone up for paining her? What happened and what's going on?

In less than four minutes, the elevator dinged and the figure of Lia passed right between our offices but she didn't look my way. She didn't acknowledge my existence and seemed to be in a world of her own. She did not walk to the coffee machine and that struck me. Cordelia's routine can only start with a cup of coffee. She cannot bare the thought of working with her favorite mug being filled to the brim

Forgetting about the papers in hand, I kept on watching th odd behavior of my Boss. I worked for Cordelia long enough  to know that the girl in front of me isn't her usual self. Cordelia is usually glued to files and papers. She would call me each ten minutes so I can pick up her phone and close a deal or start a new one. I dated her long enough too, to know that she is energetic , strong and driven.

Cordelia for a whole hour laid her head on her desk gazing at god knows what on her laptop screen. Every fiber in me and every thought, screamed for me to go over there question her and even if allowed tend to her and be there for her. Helena's words however played in my mind. For sure the red-headed girl took such orders from Lia. Helena wouldn't tell me to leave Lia alone out of the blue.

To Helena          --- "She looks lost." I sent hoping for some kind of explanation.

From Helena   --- "I know" she simply replied.

To Helena         ---" Can't you do something about it? Or at least tell me what is happening so I can help her out?" I begged feeling the levels of my frustration and stress reaching the roof.

From Helena    ---" I tried and she begged for me to let her be alone for few hours."

As soon as I read those words, the sound of Cordelia's chair rolling rapidly to hit the wall behind it got my attention. She stood so rapidly and ran to the her office's bathroom. I , having enough of what these girls are keeping hidden, ran to see if Lia is okay. The sounds echoing from the bathroom proved that she is sick. Fearing her reaction if I opened the door, I decided to bring her chair back to its place and wait for her to make sure that she is okay.

As I neared her desk though, a title written in huge black letters on laptop got my attention " Abortion : Information about your options". I froze at that certain moment and never have I ever felt my blood running cold before this second. In my head, I read that line plenty of times but the words were so simple but felt vague. Gaining some control over my body I scrolled down the history of Cordelia's search and all pages for the last twelve hours were of abortion, to be exact early abortions and abortion in the first month.

To abort a child, you must be pregnant though.

To be pregnant, you have to have sex.

Cordelia though didn't have dates or guys in her life.

I drove her home each night, late past any possible date hours.

I was the only one to touch her in a long time...Can it be?

"Tobiah Knight what the hell do you think you are doing!" Lia yelled loud and froze backing away from her desk.

"I...I..." I didn't know what to say or how to act. The amount of information that I got was crippling.

"You have no right to come in here without permission. You also did surpass your limits by going through my laptop! Who the hell do you think you are?" Lia continued to yell and her voice started to gain some of its long lost power.

"You are pregnant." those three words were the only thing that I could collect and utter.

"None of your damned business." she seethed walking my way and her obscure eyes dared me to say other than that.

"Is it mine?... It has to be?" I mumbled the last part and she froze.

"It is no one's. It will be gone by tomorrow." She denied hugging her waist as if rejecting the horror of her own words.

"Is it mine?" I questioned suddenly gaining back my strength.

"It does not matter. It is no one's. Get that information through your skull. I know that you can be slow but know that it is no one's. It won't even exist by tomorrow." Lia determinedly spoke  and a rush of anger is all I felt.

I might not be in love with Lia and we might not be a real couple but if the child is mine ,which I am sure of, she has no right to just abort it without questioning me. I very family oriented and was brought to hate abortion and killing innocent souls...If the kid is mine, at least she can let us talk about it before ending its short lived life. I know that it is growing in her body and affecting only her health but I cannot live with the idea of losing a kid without fighting for it...Abortion , if the kid is healthy and parents have the means to keep it, is a crime to me...

"Is it mine or not?" I repeated for another time.

"I won't lie to you because both of us know the answer to that but It won't change the fact that it will be going in few hours." Lia finally said the words that I expected to hear and they made me livid not because of her current state but of what she is intending to do...Killing my kid.

"It will go nowhere. I don't believe in abortion. Carry it for nine months then I will raise it alone if I have to." I instructed nearly yelling at her and her eyes grew in shock.

"I won't do that! It will suffer from a dysfunctional family and Lana won't be a good mother figure to it. I also cannot provide him with a father figure right now and I busy most of the times. He or she will die of carelessness if I don't abort it now..." Lia argued back yet sadness toned her words.

"Lana isn't that bad and many kids grow perfectly fine with nannies. My mother would also love to care for her grandchild." I stubbornly argued back and walked to meet Cordelia face to face.

"My body ! My decision! Lana won't lay a finger on any of my future children too." Cordelia bit stomping her foot down.

"It is my baby too!" I yelled back.

"Well, it isn't growing inside of you so too bad for you! " She shot as high.

"Lia if you abort it, I will..." I started to threaten.

"You will what? huh? Leave the company? Tell my parents about our contract? Don't forget Mr.Knight that I hold the power to fire you right here, right now. Now, go to your office and focus on something else before I do something that we will both regret!" She ordered with finality.

"This isn't over Cordelia! " I seethed at her and stomped back to my office while being confused, burdened and angrier than ever.
