Malik in mm.
Same day
Lanre,

I pulled up to the party with my little sister Jane. I don't let her go to parties. She's going to go to the movies with Jason's little sister. We both got out of the car. I handed her my keys. "I don't want to see a scratch on my car." I warned her. "Got it." She said.

It's the first time she's driving my car. I'm only letting her because she crashed hers and it's at the mechanic. "How are you going to get back?" She asked. "I can find a ride back to my dorm so don't worry about me." I answered.

She nodded. I headed towards Jason's house. They were a lot of cars and I could hear loud music. I went into the house. "If I could hit that, man." Malik said.

"Who?" I asked. "Joanna." He smirked. I looked toward the direction he was looking at. I saw Joanna talking with her friend. "Malik, she isn't the type of girl you can hit and run." I told him. "She doesn't give me the time of day so it barely matters." Malik spoked. "I don't think you and Lanre are ever going to get in a serious relationship." Daniel mentioned.

Daniel is right. If I want to get married some day I need to stop having flings but I think I'm too young to settle down with someone. "I'm going to continue having my flings. I don't care about what you say." Malik decided. "You'll get an STD." Daniel mentioned.

I have had a lot of flings. I never thought about STD. It's something I can have. I should go test on it. I let the two to continue their argument. I walked up to Joanna. She's in the kitchen and her friend is nowhere in sight.

"Hey." I said. She looked up from her phone. "Hi." She said. "Did you make up your mind yet?" I asked. I was eager to know her answer. "Why me?" She asked.

Well, you're beautiful. "You seem to-" "Wait did you just say that I'm beautiful?" She questioned. Shit. I thought I said that in my head. "I guess, I did. Why does it surprise you?" I wondered.

She stayed quiet. Did I say something wrong? Being beautiful isn't a bad thing. "I really don't think I can tutor you." She mentioned. "What? Why?" I questioned.

"By calling me beautiful you're just trying to make me your girl of the month. I don't go around hitting boys like you." She answered. She called me a boy. I'm a man. "I didn't even imply that. I haven't call any of my girls of the month beautiful. You're the first girl I've called that. I'm not flirting with you. It's just a compliment." I informed her.

"So you admit that you have a girl every month?" She asked. I sighed. "It's more like every other month." I half smiled. "Doesn't make it better." She stated.

I just need her to tutor me it's not like I want to date her. Why is it so hard? "Please, tutor me. I-" Someone tapped my shoulder. I turned around. "Hey." The blond haired girl twirled her hair.

Joanna,

I walked out of the house. I didn't feel like being there anymore. I don't know where Sandra is so I'm just going to text her that I left. We came in two different cars so I'm not just leaving her here without a ride.

There is a hand blocking me from opening my car. I turned around. "What do you want Lanre?" I questioned. "Can you give me a ride back to my dorm? My sister has my car." He questioned.

"Get in." I said. We both got into the car. I connected my afrobeats playlist to the car. Soco by Starboy started playing. "Are you Nigerian?" He asked. "Yeah. Born and raised." I smiled.

I haven't been back to Nigeria in five years. "Me too. What part?" He wondered. "Warri. How about you?" I replied. "Lekki." He said. "You must be Igbo then." I inferred. Most Igbos live in Lekki.

"I am. You're probably Yoruba." He said. "I am. I came here with my parents and siblings when I was ten. It took me so long to get used to this country." I mentioned. "I actually got used to it right away since I came when I was six." He spoke.

He was looking down. I sensed that something was wrong. "You ok?" I inquired. "You know, I came here because..." He had tears in his eyes. "My parents died in a building that caught on fire. My aunt was able to adopt us. My sister and I had to come to the states and stay with her." His tears started falling.

"I'm sorry for your loss." I sympathized. It must be hard to lose both parents. "I told my aunt that I'll try my best in school. She said my parents will be proud of me. I'm not trying my best anymore. That's why I need you're help. I'm begging you to help me." He informed me.

I have to make the right decision. "I'll help you under one condition. The whole school can't know about this." I decided. "I'll make sure I tell people that I know can keep this a secret." He agreed.
