The ride to duke for Macy was not the Best.

She had her eyes glued to the flies that she already had from duke and engaged in small talk with Elena, however every so often she would have the burning feeling that Damon's eyes were on her and most of the time she was right.

But nobody acknowledged vampire from the back seat mainly because the two girls were pissed at him.

When they arrived in front of the building they all got out of the car and Alaric led them in.

"So Isobel was officially employed by the anthropology department, given that most paranormal phenomena is rooted folklore ." Alaric's Said as he held out the door so Elena, Macy could come in, Damon trailing behind

They walked further into an office where there was a girl ,looking through files, Macy recognised from when she was here before

"Excuse me. Hi I'm Alaric saltzman I called earlier." Alaric said as they all gathered in front of the girl

"Yes of course I'm Vanessa monroe, research assistant comparative folklore." She shook Alaric hand then crossed her arms looking at Elena, then Macy and and Damon up and down.

"Sorry these are my friends Elena, Macy and Damon, I hope this isn't too much of an imposition for you." Alaric said

Then her eyes stopped on Macy's face

"Do I know you?" She asked Macy as she smirked

" yea, I was here awhile back, looking for Isobel's folders on vampires, they did come in useful after all." Macy presents the folders to Vanessa as she took them.

"Oh yes I remember, I thought I told you to bring them back earlier." Vanessa said bitterly

"Lost track of time I guess." Macy said rolling her eyes

Vanessa huffed and then looked at Alaric.

"Oh yea, let me just grab Isobel's keys." Vanessa Said walking over to a desk and opening a draw brining out keys

"Isobel's office is right through there. She was one of my first professors, I'm a grad student, she was brilliant, one of the reasons I went into folklore." Vanessa said sitting on the desk playing with the keys in her hand.

"I have to ask has there been any news?"

Alaric eyes turned sad "I'm afraid not." Elena smiled sadly at him from where she was standing

Vanessa got up "it's this way." She walked over to a door and unlocked it, it led to Isobel's office. Elena was first to follow, then Alaric with Macy and Damon walking behind

It was dimly lit as the four spread out to different parts of the room, looking around

"I'll grab the lights, feel free to look around." Vanessa said

Vanessa went for a bit longer than expected but before Macy knew it she felt and open wound form right in the middle of her back. She gasped and turned around from a book case where she was looking to find Damon in front of Elena with an a arrow sticking out from his back and Alaric had Vanessa lined up against the wall with a cross bow in her hand.

Macy in another room so she could slightly see what was happening but no one could see her. She slid down the wall next to the book case and breathed heavily

She wasn't going to die, that's not how her powers worked, the arrow was not  killing Damon obviously cause he is a vampire, so it just took the pain away.

"That surprisingly didn't hurt Elena can you pull it out."   Elena looked at Damon with confusing as the arrow was wood but she pulled it out and Alaric took Vanessa to a different room.

When Elena pulled the arrow from Damon they both heard a huge grunt coming from a different room.

Damon and Elena walked in confused to find Macy on the ground taking her jacket off.

"What was that all about." Elena asked as she held out a hand helping Macy up, she got up but felt uneasy which Damon put his arms out straight away and Macy held on. Once she got her balance back she spoke taking her arms away

"Did any of you get shot, cause I certainly didn't." Macy said turning around to show a hug blood stain on her back, Elena gasped as
Damon said through gritted teeth

"damn you Macy, this is why you don't give your blood away, I knew I could smell it ." Damon Said as Macy rolled her eyes, picking her jacket up and putting it back on

"I'm guessing It was you then." Macy said to Damon " who done it." Macy asked Elena

"Vanessa, she meant to shoot me but Damon took the arrow." Elena said looking at Damon

A slight tint of jealously filled Macy's blood but she left it as she went to walk past Damon who grabbed her wrist pulling her closer.

"From now on,  you can't  leave my side, are you asking to die" Damon Said as Macy pulled her hand from his

"I'm not doing it to spite you Damon, you know the exact reason why I do it"

"And you know the exact reason why I don't want you to do it" Damon said as Macy huffed, picking the car keys up off the desk and stormed outside
