I wake up from the annoying, high pitched BEEP BEEP BEEP of my alarm clock. I roll over and smack the clock to turn it off but I only knock onto the floor. I groan and reach over my nightstand, and unplug it. I'm so sick of the alarm clock in about to take a hammer to it.

I trudge out of bed and go into the bathroom to take a shower. After I finish that I pick out my outfit: a red T-shirt and dark jeans, and then walk to the kitchen.

Today was the first day of school and I was a wreck. I was NOT happy about waking up this early at all since I had gotten to sleep in for the past month, and let's just say I'm not setting my standards too high for having even 1 knew friend since I never really had any back in Colorado.

When I step into the kitchen the smell of bacon and maple syrup hits me and I could hear my stomach growl. Every year my parents always go all out for my first day of school with giving me a big breakfast. I'm not sure why they've done that since I'm always so nervous, that I barely eat anything on my plate, but I'm not going to tell them that.

" Hi, honey! Ready for your first. Day. Of school?" My dad asked.

I laugh in response " Not really. Its just school."

I grab some food onto my plate and head to the table where my parents were now sitting across from me.

" I joined the hockey team on Sunday,"  I say and I look up from my food to see their reaction. My dad's face had a slight smile, but my mom was filled with astonishment.

I take a bite of some eggs, and continue, " The coach of the hockey team at my school saw me skating and asked me if I wanted to join, and so I did." I tell them. They sit there silently as if they have nothing to say even though I'm pretty sure that so many things are going through their minds right now.

I raise an eyebrow, " Hello? Can't you hear me? I got into the hockey team. Say something!" I say waving my hand in the air.

" Y- you joined the hockey team?" My mom asks, still frozen.

I nod, " Yeah. I thought I should try something different and I'm the only girl on the team." My mom then shrugs but I can see a smile creeping on her mouth and I slightly chuckle.

The only I know about hockey is that it's not easy. So why did I accept it? Good question. I'll let you know when I figure that out.

I pick up my plate, put it in the sink, and then go upstairs to put on my socks and shoes.

" Ready to go?" My Dad asks as I walk down the stairs. I nod in response.

I reach the front door, and Dad pulls me in for a bear hug. Yes, a bear hug.
" I can't believe my little baby is all grown up." My dad says in his baby voice. I laugh and try to break free. Dad eventually let's go, and we both head out the door.

School is okay, it's just like every other first day of school, you go into the classroom, you get in your seats, and the teacher talks about the procedures for the rest of the hour.

When I go into my next class I sit down next to some guy in the back, since all the other back row seats were taken and I didn't want to sit in the front. He gives me a questioned look.

The teacher walks into the classroom and the loud chatter that had once started, ended in the three steps the teacher had taken.

The guy that is sitting next to me turns his way to face me. He had dark brown hair, green eyes with dimples on each side of his cheeks, and seemed quite tall.

" I haven't seen you around here before. What's your name?" He whispers to me.

I hesitate for a second bit then decide I should answer " my name's Kenna. What's yours."

" Olly. Nice to meet you, Kenna." He says and reaches out his hand and I shake it in response. The teacher comes over and gives us both a whack on the head with a hardcover book.

" Ow! " Olly exclaims and I laugh, but that was when she hit me and a yell comes out of my mouth.

" Wanna be friends?" He whispers.

What are we, kindergarteners?

" sure, " I was sort of being sarcastic when I said it but the look on Olly's face told me that he was serious. Is there something wrong with this dude? Only smiles in return and a warm feeling in my chest erupts and it's like I was dancing on clouds.

My next class was at the gym. I first ask the janitor for directions, since I'm still new and for some reason, this school doesn't hand out maps. Kidding, I'm being sarcastic.

I find the gym and walk the girls' locker room to change into my gym clothes.

A girl walks up to me with a big smile and says, " Hi, the name's Lilly, but you can call me Lil. Are you new here? I haven't seen you here before." At first, I just stand there just surprised that anyone would talk to someone like me. The loser new kid is most likely not to have any friends by the end of the semester, but overall everyone seemed nice. First Olly, and now this girl? What's up with that?

" Yeah, I am. My name's Kenna." I say.

" Nice to meet ya, Kenna, if you need any help I'll be right there for ya. Anyways let's go to the gym, the coach will get mad at us if we stay in here for too long." She says linking my arms into hers and she giggles.

I follow Lilly out of the locker room and head to where all the other people are sitting.

I spot Olly with some other guys and decide to go and sit with them since he was my only "friend" here.

" Hey," I say to Olly.

" Hey." He says back.

He puts his arm around me and says to his friends, " Guys this is my friend Kenna. Kenna these are my friends."

" Nice to meet you," I say.

The coach interrupts the guys and my co versatile. And says, " Okay everyone today we will be playing volleyball, whoever wins doesn't have to clean up after lunch." Then he blows his whistle.

Luckily for my team, I happen to be very good at volleyball, aside from being good at figure skating.

" AND GO!"
