Lots of angst, lots of ships. Infinity War spoilers. Also, please listen to the song by Ed Sheeran above this. It really helps the setting and the pace of the story. Thanks and enjoy!

It's just another night
And I'm staring at the moon
I saw a shooting star
And thought of you

Steve stared at the night sky. How he wonders what Bucky is doing. Is he still the Winter Solider, or is he in the abyss of his confused mind? Hands behind his head, the moonlight reflects the glossy eyes Steve has created. But he's smiling, because all his heart can think about is Bucky. The Bucky he knew, he knows is this there. Of course, that was before the War. Before The Snap.
Now all Steve can think as he stars at the black sky is how he can live without Bucky once again.

I sang a lullaby
By the waterside and knew
If you were here,
I'd sing to you

Natasha stared at the small lake Wakanda had. It really shouldn't be considered a lake, it was now a tub for the fallen. The ashes of the Wakandan warriors that died in the Battle has been placed there in the once clear waters. Of course, this wasn't how they were supposed to be buried, but the Snap took that away.
But none of that was important to Nat. She only cared about her big guy. Her Banner. Her love, who she thought she never needed, who would get in the way of being a warrior in her own right. How she wanted to see him as only a friend; seeing his face, however, made her heart think otherwise, though she never acted on it. But as she looks down into the water, vaguely seeing her own reflection, she starts to sing the lullaby; the one she'd sing Hulk. She finally knew she wanted him; only too late.

You're on the other side
As the skyline splits in two
I'm miles away from seeing you

Thor looked at the ground. Cracked and calloused, like his hands, it reminds him of all the battles he's faced. The Frost Giants, the GrandMaster's slave fighting, Hela, Thanos, and Loki. Loki. His brother. His family, who'd fought with him for countless reasons, always leading back to their childhood. When did hey become such a love/hate relationship, Thor wondered.
He can still feel the Trickster's touch on his hand. How he'd swore that they would see each other again. 'The sun will shine on us again,' he'd promised. But as Thor looked up at the sky, the sun was nowhere to be seen. Only the dark, empty light of the moon.

I can see the stars
From America
I wonder, do you see them, too?

Steve had spent hours on the ground, collecting each and every fleck of ash that Bucky's body had become. He didn't have anywhere to put Bucky, so he resorted to using one of his arm shields to pick up his friend and carry him to the plane.
The flight home from Wakanda was tricky for Steve. He was still an outlaw, not welcomed into the US soil. But that didn't matter, because half the government was probably gone. They wouldn't care. The hardest part was sitting in the plane alone, with only grief as a friend.

So open your eyes and see
The way our horizons meet
And all of the lights will lead
Into the night with me

If Shuri has felt grief when her brother died the first time, the feeling this time around surely was death. She was still in the lab when the Snap happened. With Vision gone, she had nothing to do but sit, hide, and wait for the Battle to be over. She wanted to go and fight, but she promised T'Challa she wouldn't. 'I can't risk loosing you, sister,' he'd said.
Shuri knew he must've died a warrior, how he wanted to go out. While she was in sorrow, she knew she must carry on his legacy.

And I know these scars will bleed
But both of our hearts believe
All of these stars will guide us home

Tony didn't want to believe it. 'Mr.Stark..I don't feel so good..'. No, Tony had thought. Quill, Mantis, Drax, they already died. Just spare the kid. Spare my son. 'I'm sorry', Peter had said as he turned to dust. Tony waited for himself to go. But he didn't.
Tony stared down at the Titan ground. Peter wouldn't want that. He'd want Tony to let the pain ride through him, then carry on. Go home, care for his Aunt May, work for a better life, a happier one. 'I'll try,' Tony promised to the sky, hoping somehow Peter could hear.
