Part 13: Sorting A Problem.

Start from the beginning

"When?" Alfie asked.

"Alfie..." she choked.

"When?" Alfie repeated.

"Just now." Dolton said, holding a crying Corey.

This set Alfie off.  Set him into a rage that he'd never felt before, his tears fell down his face but he was angry, angrier than he'd ever been before.  Enough rage to fill a thousand suns with his newfound fire.

"Give me that gun, Jay." Alfie ordered, clearly not wanting to ask twice.

Jay handed him the gun, putting a hand on his shoulder.  Alfie swatted it off, turning quickly and walking into the horde, fast.

He fired shots into the horde.  Quickly reloading and firing more.  Shots turning into clips, clips turning into all of his ammo.  After he finished unloading he spun the pistol and held it by its barrel, viscously swiping it to the left and cracking a boys jaw open, coming in again shortly after with a blow to the head with his hatchet to the infected just behind.

"Fuck it." Jay growled as he joined in, coming up next to Alfie and guarding his back, swinging with his handmade pipe weapon.

"You stay here." Mark said gruffly, lightly jogging on his leg and powering through the crowd, punching, elbowing, head butting and swinging his hatchet to get to the boys.

Corey and said now words, and with Malik at his side charged in wildly, mouths wide open, vocals being pushed to their limits and hatchets swinging, coming in and adding to the tight circle Alfie had started.

"You wanna be strong?  Follow me." Dolton told Elise, picking up his pickaxe and running.

Elise followed, he machete and knife in her hands, running beside Dolton.

As they reached the middle with the circle, the swung wildly but the infected were closing in, making no room to swing weapons in an arc.  The group were forced to violently headbutt and bring their weapons in from a higher angle, it was like a festival.  They bodies were so closed in that they couldn't even push their arms out in front of them.

Elise lost her knife to a fallen infected and tried to retrieve it but had no time, the next layer of the horde had already covered up the bodies of the last.  They piled onto her, their arms outstretching and grabbing onto her shirt.  She was about to be pulled in but a spearhead came through the eye of one of the infected, pulling out before it fell down.

Freddie stepped in and joined the circle, using his spear to push back a row of rabid infected.

"Good to see you love!" He said in his cockney accent before sweeping out the legs of another woman.

Elise only had time to say a quick thank you and she rammed her machete forwards and took an infected out, her face grimacing in effort as she sunk the blade through its eye, it's body falling onto hers as it went limp.

Elise held Alfie as he sat. He was crying before but he had passed that stage now, his eyes still puffy and red from the crying however. The worst part was that they couldn't recover the body to bury, according to Corey it had been horrifically brutalised, not that they had a chance of finding it anyway, with the amount of bodies littering the campus.
