Chapter Ten: Selflessness

Start from the beginning

She flipped a page to a picture as I could see it from my position, but didn't get a good look. "Take a look at this picture," she states as she turns the book around to face Lydia and I. "What does it look like to you both?" She asked us, as I stared at the picture at hand. The image held a wolf, but it's eyes were red. It brought me back to that day in the house, the wolf with big glowing red eyes, staring back at me through the window...

I was like pulled in a trance, and everything around me just shut off, and I just focused on those eyes on the page, leaning forward like they were pulling me in. Flashes of the past came rushing back in, the screams, the blood, everything that I would want to forget.

"Lydia? Alice?" Allison states, bring me out of my trance as I look at her weirdly, before sitting back into my seat.

"It looks...like a big...wolf...See you both in history," she states looking at Allison, before moving from her seat and exiting the canteen. I watched her go, not really saying anything, but I was still slightly shaken from what I just went through.

"Alice are you ok?" Allison asked, looking at me with worried eyes. I gently smiled at her, putting on a brave face that I've mastered over the centuries.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I lied through my teeth, but she bought it, so I didn't have to worry about that. "But I have to go, so I'll see you later," I grabbed my things as I said the words. Throwing my bag over my shoulder before leaving the canteen, those red eyes staring at me...

And that image will always be imprinted into my memory...

The history lesson had finished with Lydia and Allison, but now I had a free period like the rest. I walked through the halls with my history book in my hand, my heels clicking against the floor. I reached my locker, holding the book tightly, as I put in my locker combination. The locker door opens and I quickly place my World History book inside, before closing it.

Suddenly, my super hearing picked up on grunting sounds coming from outside. I stood for a moment, pulling my hair behind my ear to listen in. "Aah! Son of a bitch!" I heard Scott yell in pain. I wonder what they were doing.

I made my way through the hallway and made my way out to the pitch. As I got closer, I saw Scott and Stiles on the pitch. Scott's hands tied behind his back with duct tape, and Stiles is throwing balls at him with his lacrosse stick. I came to a halt by the blenches, leaning against the cold steel, as I continued to watch them mess around. But I think they are trying to make Scott control his heart rate, so he doesn't wolf out.

Stiles continued to throw balls at Scott, him taking it the best he could, ball left and right hitting Scott, some in the shoulder then the face. I couldn't help but laugh at them quietly, but then that changed when Stiles threw a ball and hit Scott in the stomach before he hunched over. I started to listen in his heart beat and it was rising fast, he then suddenly broke free from his duct tape. I watched from afar as Stiles checked his heart rate on the phone and began to worry, but then his heart rate began to slow and become normal.

I walked over to them, passing a bench and then onto the grass, Stiles quickly seeing me. "Scott, you do know that anger is the root of your wolf side so the angrier you get the stronger you feel," I state as I stood in front of them, as they looked at me surprised, but Scott then changed his expression to a sad one.

"So it is anger, then. Derek's right," Stiles added, looking to Scott and I.

Scott breathing heavily, as he realises something. "I can't be around Allison,"

"Just because she makes you happy?" Stiles replied not understanding why he could be around her.

"No, because she makes me weak," Scott states, as he looked between us both. But that's not true, she keeps him in control, she keeps him grounded and he doesn't wolf out.

"That's not true Scott," I state before walking off the pitch, and back inside the high school. I could feel their eyes upon me as I left....

........................................

It's been another lesson, and I had it with Lydia and not with the others as they had another lesson. The school bell rang out, and I saw Scott and Stiles push open the door, as I was walking down the hallway.

"It's her," I hear Stiles say I approach them, walking next to Stiles as they give me a nod, to say 'Hi' in a way.

Scott looked around for a moment, checking no one was listening. "What do you mean," he asked confused.

"Allison, isn't it?" I asked, making them both look at me with a look, and then stopping in their tracks. I winked at them, before walking backwards, and then swirling around and walking down the hallway as I left them to talk it out.

School had now finished, and I went home and got changed, and let my blonde hair flow down my back. As I need to let my hair loose now and then. I grab a blood bag from the freezer in the spacey kitchen. I ripped open the opening of the tube, and stuck it in my mouth, sucking the blood from the bag within seconds, today was mental, and I needed the blood in my system right now.

Suddenly, there was a loud knock on my door, my eyes widened with the blood back in my hand, before I threw it back in the freezer before closing it shut. Before making my way through the hall and to the door. I quickly swung the door open to see Derek with his black leather jacket in the way.

"What do you want?" I asked, coming outside, and closing the door behind me, him taking a few steps back also.

"Well, firstly, how the hell did you escape my house when Kate attacked?" He was so direct, his rough voice filled my ears, before I shot up an eyebrow to him.

"Well, I went after you wolfed out. I ran for my life. And seeing you standing here must mean that you got out too. Congratulations..." I mockingly state to him, before turning around and heading back to my door.

"I need help with Scott, and I know he's your friend and that you know a lot that you're not telling them," he states, making me stop in my tracks, before turning around to face him. His face held mixed emotions, I couldn't pick one out. But he looked desperate.

"I don't know much Derek. I offer my assistance wherever I can, and you sound desperate, so I'll help. For my friends..." I eyed him up, my heart beating steadying as I lied through my teeth once again.

Over the centuries, I became good at lying and keeping my heart beat steady so it wouldn't tip any werewolves off. He looked at me for a moment, probably listening to my heart beat. Before he turns around and walks over to his lovely car, and gets in. I smiled to myself and made my way over, and entered the passage's side.

Then he zoomed off down the street and to Scott...
