Chapter 10

My very first hunt is one I will never forget. I was just beginning to learn the ways of the ocean.

I was reckless. Hungry.

As I stalked my prey, I had not a clue I was being hunted by another. The savage beast tore off my leg, then went about to take my arm. I somehow escaped and hid, only for a few moments. I watched in awe as my limbs grew back in a matter of seconds.

I did not feel pain when I was being attacked. Nor did I feel pain when I was in the water. And as I felt the coldness of the waves on that beach, the feelings I was having were drifting away.

I dove into the water and felt the transformation begin. My legs banded together against my will, teeth grew in length, skin turned to dark tinted scales. My body morphed into my true form. And oddly enough, my mind drifted to Vadik. How he looked at me as I left his side. How much it hurt my cold heart. I wanted to go back to him as soon as I could. It wasn't just this emotional need, but a physical one as well.

Therefore, as soon as I ate my meal, I was already steering towards the beach.

Before I reached the shore I urged my body to transform from its' monstrous state to its human form. Once my tail became legs, I used them to stand and to walk towards the beach. The waves crashing into the shore act as if to pull me back into the water. Are they against this? At that very thought, I move the water away from my path.

These abilities I possess are ones I cannot explain. Oddly enough, one day they were just there. I didn't learn to use them, my body already knew how. My ability to control ones body is also one I cannot explain. What I wish to happen, just does. It came in handy when I would hunt, keeping my prey still as I tore into it made it less difficult.

"Vadik..." I see him in the distance once I look up, walking towards me. His smile makes my heart flutter. In his hands I see a towel which he then wraps my body in.

"You found me... how did you know?"

"I will always know where you are. That is how the mate bond works."

"Vadik... I could not stop thinking of you, returning to you, is that also the bond?"

"Yes," he lifts my chin so our lips touch. I then feel a warmth that is so satisfying, I cannot help but wrap my arms around his neck. He lifts my legs and as if coursing me to wrap them around his torso, which I do. His large warm hands move to my bottom and I feel him squeeze.

"Mhm..."

He holds me close and walks away from the beach. His warmth feels incredibly good on my skin. I cannot get enough of this, of him. Of all of him.

"How was your meal?" I lean my cheek against his shoulder.

"Good but does not compare to this."

"Good." I close my eyes at the feeling of his warm breath on my ear, causing my skin to tingle.

"Will it always be this way?"

"What way?"

"This feeling as we touch. Our connection we share?"

"It will only grow the more we're together."

"How interesting..." I rub my face on his shoulder and neck.

As soon as we arrive, Tristan as well as others wait outside for our arrival. I am whisked away by women from his pack. They take me by my hands and guide me inside. I look towards Vadik and he gives me a slight nod but I do not want to leave him.
