Born Innocent

9 4 4

Born so innocent.

Eyes not open,

For fear of seeing the world.

A mother and father

Who thought they could raise

A child

To their perfect standards.

Instead they got

Me.

I tried to survive

This world.

I tried to see

The good you inspired in me.

But starry nights and Mac N' Cheese

Couldn't keep me

From the realization

That every day I count

Is another second with them.

I'm sorry, Pete.

I didn't think

Life would end

So fast.

P.S.  I know this isn't how I write and kind of weird, but my mom just sent my stuff down (I'm moving in with my gran) and she shipped a thing of my sisters stuff down and in one of her books I found this poem to me.  It's from the night before she died.  I just wanted to share it because it meant something to me.

P.p.S. Sorry about the really long PS
