I started to elbow him in his stomach, but realized this is my father I'm talking about. I gripped the table instead as my blood boiled. This brought back memories of me promising to never be like him. Promising to never hit my wife, or children if I ever had any. To never be controlling and abusive. I just wanted to be better than my father, no matter what. "A man knows when to shut his trap and just listen! I run this family, and I'm in charge until I say I'm not! Don't you forget that," he barked before my Uncle Santos pulled him off me, and my dad shoved him off of him. I stood up and was about to storm out, when my fathers voice boomed. "Sit down! We arent finished here," he growled making me lock eyes with him. The torch in my eyes was nothing compared to the inferno in his. This was the only man who put fear in my heart. I took a seat, and was quiet as we continued the meeting not answering questions or contributing to the meeting. I just wanted to get out of here as soon as possible, before I ended up murking somebody...
-Kollins-
I rested my arms on my knees and leaned back, letting the high help me escape my fuck up. What was Ebony doing there with that girl? I never thought Ebony would get in my way of an intended target. I didn't even see her, or notice that was her car! I was so focused on killing Brat for Chresanto, that I shot my little sister. I grabbed my head, as the thought of her falling to the ground in a pool of her own blood, attached itself to the back of my eyeballs. It was all my fault! Our parents are probably rolling over in their graves! "Kollins." I heard Melanie call. I jumped up throwing my drug tools into my gym bag and stuffing it in the bottom drawer of our bathroom. Just as I was walking out she came walking in. "Hey, what are you doing," she asked kissing my lips. "What's with the third degree," I asked? She stopped what she was doing to turn and look at me. "'Okay, I was just trying to make conversation," she rolled her eyes.
"The only thing we need to talk about is you getting an abortion," I spoke cruelly, making her body go stiff. "Kollins, I'm not up for that again. I don't know if I can," she said lowly. "You can, and you will," I barked stopping in my tracks to glare at her back. It seems like no matter how many times I talk to this girl she doesn't get it. I don't want kids, I'm not being responsible for them, I'm not raising any, and I damn sure ain't claiming none. Children always suffer the most in broken homes. It was pointless for me and Melanie to bring a child into this type of environment. She's not ready for that responsibility and I'm not going to want anything to do with the child. I grabbed my jacket up in a flurry and put my shoes on. "Where are you going Kollins," she screamed after me, but I was already out the door and headed to my car. I had to get out of there before she blew my high! "Where are you going," she called after me? I didn't respond, instead I started the car and left!
Instantly my phone began vibrating. I assumed it was Melanie and didn't answer because we honestly had nothing to talk about. The conversation was over the moment she told me she was pregnant. At a red light I looked down at my phone, only to see one of my side chicks calling me, instead of Melanie. "Hello," i answered not having heard from her in a while, and hoping she could be a quick stress reliever. "Hey, I've got to talk fast so pay attention. Yesterday evening they brought your sister in. She was one of the victims of a shooting. I was going through the files this morning when I came to work, and remembered your last name. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know she's at my hospital. I have to go though, I'll see you soon," she rushed before kissing into the phone and hanging up.
My heart felt heavy as I recalled yesterdays events. I wish i could have stayed but someone had spotted me holding the gun. I couldn't stick around or id risk being carted to jail and really never seeing Ebony again. I had to tell her it was an accident, I had to go check and see if she was okay.
It took me ten minutes to get to the hospital where Ebony was placed. As soon as I walked in there were two officers by the medical doors. I tossed my dreads over to hide my face as much as I could, and then walked to the front desk where Nichelle, my side lady, was sitting on the phone. "Hey Ne-Ne. I came as soon as I could. What room is she in ma," I asked her? "Hey Kollins," she smiled, and I smiled back at the thick chocolate chick. She had curves like nobodies business, and for a second my mind slipped to what was under her nursing outfit. I shook my head forgetting that and getting back to the reason I was here. "What room is she in," I asked again. "Oh, right she's in 231. But, when your finished talking to her, come back and see me. Ill be on break soon," she smiled. I nodded and licked my lips at the offer. Good girls always love thugs.
I looked over at the cops once more, before turning and walking to the elevators on the other side of the hospital. It meant walking in a circle, but shit it was worth it. I'd shot two people, and had been seen in the light of day. Who knows if they were on a man hunt for me already or not. When I got to her room, she was alone flipping through channels on the tv. I watched her from the doorway a moment, before she turned probably feeling someones gaze. Her eyes went wide, and instantly her hand went for the 'Call Nurse' button. "Wait let me just talk to you," I cried out.
To be continued...
