35| Manly Enough?

"Are you sure? Are they sure?" He asked again, shaking his head at the thought.

"Yup. They really liked you, as long as you don't leave me straight after then-" Annie joked, rolling her eyes as she saw Luke's eyebrows furrow.

"I'd never leave you, never in a million years." He shook his head, feathering kisses all over her face and neck. "I love you so so so much, baby girl."

"Whats with all the pet names?" His girl chuckled, wriggling her body underneath his and seeing as a blush coated his cheeks.

"I don't know, I like it. Is it ok?" He licked over his lips, his hand fiddling with the bottom of Annie's shirt as she ran a hand through his hair, smirking at how cute he was.

"Of course." She giggled, noticing how his nose curled up in its cute, adorable way. She had the urge to peck it, which she did so, causing him to hide his head in her neck, peppering it with little kisses. "You're so cute."

"I'm not cute, I'm manly." He fake growled, listening as his girl vibrated with laughter underneath him.

"Right, and I'm blonde." She rolled her eyes, smirking as his hair fell around his face as he shook it.

"You could be for all I know." He shrugged, kissing down her neck and chest as his hands searched for hers, intertwining their fingers and moving them above her head. "Manly enough for you?"

Annie gulped, licking her lips as she stared at his stern expression. "Mmhmm." She swallowed again, finding his act a little intimidating but also kinda hot.

"Good." He reached down for her lips again, landing on them perfectly as they had done so many times before. Annie tried to move her hands so she could pull his face back to her, but his right hand stayed tight on top of both of hers, keeping her still.

She hated to admit how much she was liking this, it was such a good sight seeing Luke take charge, she'd be happy to watch him all day.

It didn't go much further than a make-out as Luke was asking a lot of questions to do with the surgeon, which was fair enough, even if Annie was getting excited. Annie searched the place on Luke's laptop which had been collecting dust under his bed, not having any settings to help the blind.

It will take them around two days, including pit stops and time for the driver (Annie) to sleep. They also had to book an appointment which Luke made Annie do right this second for three days ahead of them now, meaning they needed to hurry up and get packing.

That, and they needed to tell the parents, specifically Luke's parents. He knew his mum was still slightly, more like extremely, annoyed at Luke for the tattoo but she couldn't really say no to granting him the wish of a lifetime.

Trotting downstairs with the check in his hand, Luke held Annie's hand in the other as they searched for his lovely parents. Finding them stood around in the kitchen, probably either making dinner or bitching about their stupid son, Luke stopped in his tracks as he let out a shaky breath.

"I'm going to stay at Annie's tonight and then the next few days we're travelling to Oklahoma to get my eyesight back then we'll probably have a little road trip or something before coming back is that cool?" He rushed out, rocking on his feet as his hands nervously fiddled with Annie's fingers.

"I'm sorry, what?" Annie now understood where Luke got that from, both the older couple had faces full of shock and confusion and maybe even a little anger. "You're out of your mind." Jane shook her head, turning back to her cookbook to finish off tea.

"We're not! Annie's grandad did it and he leant me some money to get them fixed too." He fought back, hating how his parents would never believe him.

"You're not going to Oklahoma Luke, end of. Return the money and deal with it." Andy stated, anger laced through his voice as he flicked over his newspaper.

Luke's hand gripped Annie's tighter, she could feel the pain travelling through him and into her. "Mr Mason with all due respect, my grandparents don't want the money they want Luke to be happy-" she started, hoping somehow by having a quiet voice she could reason with the unreasonable.

"I don't care what they want Annie! He's not their son!" He stood up from his stool, yelling loud enough for Julie to actually stop cooking.

"He doesn't sound like yours either!? How could you ever, even for a second, deny giving your youngest son the ability to see again!? To see you and to see the world and to actually be happy! You know nothing about your son and how he's being continuously tortured by the fact that all he will ever live with is complete darkness, and you're just chucking away his chance of normality again! How could you?"

Annie had lost it. Completely. She had never yelled at anyone this violently before, especially people over 20 years older than her. She felt utterly enraged and felt as though she might actually start a fight.

Andy, Julie and Luke were all speechless, and Annie hadn't even finished yet.

"How could you, huh? Is it because your inhumane, monstrous people who don't even deserve a son as amazing as Luke? He has put up with all your crap as well as the crap he gets from school and, admittedly, me too, and he doesn't deserve it anymore! We are going to Oklahoma and Luke is going to see again and he is going to be happy and if you are so against that then you don't deserve him!"

Now Annie was the one gripping Luke's hand, so hard he thought his fingers were breaking, along with his heart.

He wasn't upset by his parents, he didn't expect much more really, he was so weakened by Annie's voice and her words.

Not even before the accident, when he could see, no one would stick up for him that much. Normally he could do it for himself, he'd just punch the prick talking to him, but it was quite different when it was his parents.

His girlfriend, however, was the scariest person he'd ever heard. He was way more scared of her than his parents right now, and she was on his side.

"Don't you dare talk to me that way! And don't you dare step one foot back in this house, you are no longer welcome!" Andy shouted back, grabbing his newspaper from the table and storming out of the room.

"I wouldn't want to come back anyway!" She huffed, turning around and about to leave the rotten house. Luke twisted with her, hands finding her belt loops and allowing him to follow her easier.

They stumbled out of the house, Annie's chest still heaving as Luke's mind rushed with uncertainties and queries. He was allowed back home right? As much as he was pissed off with his parents, he did still want a home.

He'd have to find out after the surgery, in which he needed to start getting ready for.
