when she disappeared,
the world didn't end.
the sun didn't stop shining,
the ocean's wave didn't cease to crash.
when she disappeared,
she disappeared without warning.
she disappeared with months of weight on her shoulders,
weight of the silence that pinned her down.
when she disappeared,
she did it gladly.
nothing more than a wavering
candle flame flickered out.
when she disappeared,
it happened in a second.
there.
then gone.
when she disappeared,
nobody noticed.
because all the time everyone knew her,
she had already been gone.
