i wasn't born to be a giver
to channel my own energy and life and passion and love and desire
into others
just because they need it
i was forced to become a giver
because everyone else refused to
now i've been sucked dry
of life and my own soul
dozens of people carry shreds of both
behind their fake smiles and rehearsed masks
they left me behind
after i gave them all of me
now, i need someone to give a little life back to me
just so i can breathe again
