Chapter 1

"Sprints!" Coach Kemp yells then blows the whistle. Some of the players groan.
"Sprints!" Last years captain of the team, Zach, yells.
Coach Kemp's phone rings. "Keep running!"

As soon as he turns his back Caleb, a linebacker, trips me.

"Sorry." He says, I know he isn't though. I get up and dust myself off.
"What is your problem?" I shoot back. Anger bubbles in my chest.
"Go to cheer practice where you and the other girls belong."

That was it. I shove the palm of my hand into his face. His nose starts to bleed.
"Honey, you're bleeding, maybe you should go to the bathroom and put a pad on." I smirk.

He growls at me but I walk away.
"Practice over!" Coach yells. "Dylan, I need to talk to you."
I run to him as the guys go to the locker room. "Yes Coach?"
"Why did you hit Caleb?"
"He deserved it."
"That doesn't mean you can hit." He sighs. "I know it is hard to be the only girl on the team but this is a team. Everyone needs to act like we are one."
I stay silent.
"You should apologize."
I still remain silent.
"Fine, go shower."

I got to the girl's locker room. I am used to the team hating me, I am the first girl to ever try out for this team and make it. Though, technically tryouts haven't started, we all know what positions to play.

I moved here at the beginning of summer and I have been going to the practices. At my old school I was first string quarterback, and no one made my life this hell, they accepted me and cheered me on. Yet, here I am on this team and my life is hell.

Tomorrow we will find out what string we will be on. There are three people trying out for quarterback. Zach, Patrick, and me. I will stop at nothing to prove these boys wrong. I do belong here.

After the shower I pick up my younger brother, Dexter, from whatever nerdy club he is in now. The drive home -or at least to the house that doesn't feel like home- was silent. We had nothing in common. It was almost like a stranger who lived in the bedroom next to mine.

"How was practice?" Mom was just about to for work. She is an emergency room nurse. Some times she worked night some times she worked days.
"It was fine." I say.

I walk to the basement, my older brother's room, he and his friends are playing video games. He is in the basement because when we got this house we assumed he would be gone and in his own place by now.

"How was practice?" Dean, my brother, asks.
"Fantastic." The sarcasm dripping from the word.
"Them boys getting you down?" Tony, one of my brothers friends, makes room for me on the couch.
"More like tripping me." I throw myself onto the couch between Tony and Gavin. Gavin was also my brother's friend.
"Do you want me to teach them a lesson?" Dean jokes.
"Oh, I already did." I smiled innocently.
"That's my sister! You got their respect?"
"No, they still hate me."
"Not all of them." Tiny offers.
"Yes all of them." I then change the subject. "I have homework that needs to be done."

I always do my homework in here. Dean and his friends are in college so they help me. Gavin is good with English, Tony is a secret science nerd, and Dean is a mathematician. I am very lucky to know how to manipulate my brand his friends into help me.

I pull out my calculus homework. After spending 20 minutes on one problem I finally asked for help. Dean does the problem in less than a minute without even doing scratch work. Stupid mental math. I think, is that mental math? What even is math?

After homework Tony asks me to play the shooting game with them, I don't know which one it was. Mostly because I didn't care enough to remember.

"So how is college going?" I ask after I lost terribly and threw the controller at Dean, who won.
"You know, parties." Tony winks.
"And hot college chicks." Dean adds. I roll my eyes, will they ever grow up?
"Good luck tomorrow. I know you will kill 'em." Gavin whispers in my ear. Gavin doesn't talk much but he is super sweet.
"Thanks." I smile at him.

"Okay, I think I'm headed to bed now." It was starting to get late and I felt tired.
"Maybe you should get into my bed." Tony winks.
"No thanks, I don't want what ever disease you have. And you don't even have a bed, you sleep on the couch most of the time."

He pouted like a dog. He was just joking, Dean would never let that happen. Besides, I didn't want Tony anyway.

I changed into an oversize shirt and shorts. It was beginning of fall but still felt like the middle of summer. I crawled into bed but I wasn't going to go to sleep. There were too many things on my mind. A tear slipped down, as it reached my chin my window slid open. I wiped it away.
"How'd you know?" I asked.
"Spidey sense." He pulled himself through the window.
"You should keep these locked." He brushed his blonde floppy hair out of his face.
"But how will Spider Man get in my room then?"
"I'll figure it out." He kisses my forehead before sliding under the covers.
"He better not get caught by my brothers."
"Nah, I know how to get out of sticky situations."
I laughed and laid my head on his chest. "Thank you for coming."
"Shh, just go to sleep." He held me in his strong arms. "You don't ever need to thank me."

I did as I was told. His warmth sending me off to the land of dreams.

That morning I woke up to the alarm on my phone telling me it was time for school. I rolled over to see that Spider Man was gone as if he had never been there in the first place.

Authors Note:

I hope you enjoyed the first chapter.

One of the biggest changes is Dylan. In the original she was shy and didn't stand up for herself. I made her that way because that was how I was. I was being bullied and wanted someone to save me. 4 years later I realized that I can't wait for someone. I need to be the change. Don't let someone push you around.

I am actually very anxious to upload this book because I have changed some things and I'm terrified that people won't like it anymore.

I write everything on my computer but I don't have internet at my house so I retyped everything to my phone because I couldn't go to the library and get on that internet. I resented had surgery on my ankle so and I can't walk or do much.

Anyway, chapter 2 will be up on Friday.
