School felt odd today, two of my closest friends did not come so I spent the day alone, sulking and in a bad mood
On top of that I had a little argument with my lecturer before I left which made the day a complete disaster for me, and due to my unfortunate life I came home to find it empty
Well to some people that might be a good thing, having the home to yourself for sometime, but for me, I liked the house full of life
So you could imagine my annoyance
I didn't exactly expect to find my mom at home even though she should be back by now but I did expected to find my two siblings
I picked up my phone and I dialed my sister's number, she picked up on the second ring
"Hello?"
"Hello?, where are you? I came home and none of you are here and Mama isn't back from work too, komai lafiya?"
"Just hold on Iman, we are around the corner, give us like 5 minutes " she said
"Ok" I replied
A few minutes later I heard the sound of a car coming through the gate, I took my shoes and I dragged my feet to the front door
"So do I get my explanation now?" I said when they both came out
"Like we owe you one" ya Nadia said as she rolled her eyes
My facial showed her I wasn't impressed and she chuckled
"Aunty Khadijah's sister called us to tell us that Aunty Khadija was admitted to the hospital" Ya Ibrahim told me
"Really?, Subahanallah, what happened to her?" I asked
"I don't specifically know what it was, but something similar to a panic attack, but more intense, apparently she had it when she had a Flash back of her husband's death" Ya Nadia told me
My forehead creased into a frown "Allah ya bata Lafiya"
"Ameen" they both chorused
Aunty Khadijah was one of my mother's closest friends, we considered her a mother
Her husband was a very wealthy politician, last year some goons tracked him down and killed him right in front of her but she somehow managed to escape, she usually had attacks similar to this about the incident but this has been the worst because it had never reached the point where she had to be taken to the hospital
"Does mama know about it?" I asked them as we entered inside
"Yes she does, she was informed while at the office, we left her at the hospital, she said you should come with us to the hospital when we go back to get her" ya Ibrahim replied
"Ok..right now?" I asked
"No, I have a delivery to take, later we'll go" Ibrahim told me
"Oh, ok Toh"
I went up stairs and prayed Asr, adding Aunty Khadija in my duas
I didn't have anything to do after then, so I took my phone to call Zainab, My best friend
"Hello?" She said
"Heyy Zainab, ya kike?"
"Lafiya Lau, Keh fah?"
"Alhamdulillah"
"I was just about to call you and ask you if you were available tomorrow, you know that Ya abba's wedding is near and I need to buy a good lace, I wanted you to come with me" she told me
"I'm so sorry Zainab, I don't think that I will be available tomorrow"
"Why, Lafiya?" she asked
"Well you know maman twins ai, samira and sumayya's Mum?"
"Yess...ba late aminu dahiru's wife ba?" She asked
"Yes her, she was admitted into a hospital today and you know she is very close to mama so I don't think I would be available the whole of tomorrow"
"Ayaa, Allah sarki, may she get well soon"
"Ameen, but don't worry I will escort you when you want to buy something else" I told her
"No problem I can change the date, I have loads of time I just wanted to have an idea of what I wanted"
"ok sure take care,greet mama"
"I will, bye"
I hung up the phone and I went downstairs
I saw Ya Nadia sitting on the couch in the living room so I sat down on the coach next to her
I decided to annoy her
I smirked "So how's khalil"
Khalil is her fiancé
She shot me a glare trying to hide her smile "you have his number don't you? Call and ask him how he is"
"Keh dai kika sani" I laughed
"The twins were there when you went?" I added referring to when they went to see Aunty Khadija
"Of course na" she said as she glared at me considering I was interrupting the series she was watching
Someone has to do the annoying last sibling role and I had taken it upon me so she had to suck it up
"How were they..I mean how were they coping with the matter?"
She pause her show before turning to me "Well from what I've seen they are doing okay, they are probably trying to stay strong for their mom..now would you let me watch the damn show!"
I pouted before I rolled my eyes "I just want to know how they're doing"
"Their brother is arriving tomorrow morning from UK, they'll probably feel better once they see him"
"Brother?" I asked
I never knew they had a brother
"Yes, Amir, are you interested ?" she said giving me a cheeky smile
"Ya Nadia!" I threw a pillow at her "I was asking because I didn't know him"
She chuckled as she dodged the pillow "I don't know him that well either, he's not usually around, we've met once or twice, he's handsome too"
"You're engaged" I reminded her
She stirred her tea before taking a sip "So? Does being engaged make me blind, if I see a fine person, I'll state it!"
"Ugh" I said rolling my eyes
"But yeah, he's your type, perfect for you, like 25 or so"
"I am NOT interested"
"When you see him you'll change your mind" she said taking a sip of her tea again with a smirk
"Khalil must hear about this" l said
"As I said before, you have his number" she said before pressing play and continuing her show
"Anyways what time is ya Ibrahim coming back?" I asked her
"Wallahi if you don't shut up and let me watch this thing I will pour this tea on you!" she shouted at me
I barked out a laugh as a clutched my stomach
Mission annoy Ya Nadia successful!
We heard as chuckle behind us before I heard Ya Ibrahim's voice "she's so aggressive"
"I know" I said in between laughs
