Second Chances

Life is full of second chances that people fail to recognize.

Things so simple that no one notices when they come.

When you drop your pencil, you have a second chance to pick it up, and continue where you left off.

When you mess up on a drawing, you have a second chance to erase or start over again to make it even better.

When you fall, you have a second chance to get back up again.

All of these second chances, but you're ignoring the most important one in your life.

I know things aren't going as you planned them.

I know you feel like there is no way to keep moving on.

The sun is gone behind the clouds, and you feel as though you will never see it again.

That you will forget all the warmth that it brought you, and only know the darkness of now until you cease to exist. Maybe even by your own hand.

I know what that feels like.

I also know that the sun will come back, brighter than you remember it before it left.

It will go away again, but you will know to wait.

Be patient with the life you know and wait for the life you have yet to learn, better than this one.

In time.

So, when you drop your pencil, pick it up again, and write the story of the rest of your life.

When you mess up that drawing, restart, and finish the picture of the future you have yet to see.

You don't have to pick up the blade and cut away the world you haven't known yet.

You don't have to drown out the happiness and keep it away in fear that it will hurt you one day.

You need to stand up when you fall and take a step toward the life you will have when you keep going.

Take my advice and stand up for what can be, what should be, and what will be if you can hold your ground.

You.
