Maya's P.O.V

"I'm really sorry, I was so stupid , how could I not see it was him , you described your friends and boyfriend: a texan boy named Lucas" Jennifer looks ashamed

"Jen , it's okay, it isn't your fault"

"But Riley he was your boyfriend"

"And I'm glad you helped me find out , if it weren't for you I'd be oblivious and he would've continued cheating"

"You always find the positive side of things don't you?"

"Yeah, she does" I add smiling

After a long talk Riley wanted to go home

I can't believe Lucas,
If I was lucky enough to have Riley as my girlfriend I'd treat her like a princess

Because that's what she is.

We decided a walk would be good after all the events she needed some fresh air

We are almost there and Riley hasn't said a thing

"Riley" I hold her hand

"Riles if you want to talk, I'm here"

She nods but keeps walking until we're just a street away from home

I stop dead in my tracks

She finally looks at me

"I'm okay "

"I get it, Riley you can be upset"

"I just .... I didn't imagine that, I thought he was good"

"I still don't believe it"

"I know I don't like him anymore ,but he was with her while we were dating in New York , he cheated for a while"

"I know"

"I cared for him as a friend , but I also feel bad because I lied to him , I didn't like him and yet I was with him"

"Riley, you were going to tell him soon because you didn't want to play with his feelings, but he didn't know how you really felt and still did that "

" but I lied!"

"You deserve better"

"Maya, do you think someone will really love me"

I laugh sadly

"Riles how could you doubt that? You're the best person I know , from inside and out, they'd be lucky to have someone like you"

She looks away turning a light shade of red

Am I imagining this?

"Peaches"

She squeezes my hand

"Are you going to be okay?" I ask afraid

"If you're here I am"

I smile

"And right now are you okay?"

"I don't like Lucas, but it still hurt that he was dating two girls at the same time"

"Is that the real Lucas, you know the old Lucas from Texas ?"

"I don't know, he was nice and sweet , that's what got me interested in keeping our friendship"

" I don't know what's gotten into him"

"I could've forgiven him for being unfaithful , but I don't think I can forget about him getting violent towards you.... I still can't believe he tried to hit you"

"I know, I thought we truly knew him , I always saw him as a brother  who would protect us"

"I guess we don't really know us"

And silence falls back

"For standing up to Lucas"

"You deserve better treatment"

"You make it seem like I'm the princess or something"

"You're too sweet" Riley pecks my cheek

We walk hand in hand arriving home

Everyone is out

Riley goes for a bath

And I fall into the couch smiling

Mentally crossing out a name from my get away from Riley list

But the smile doesn't stay long , Riley's words to Lucas echoing back : because I'm in love with someone else

what the hell!?

There's another name written in fresh ink

Justin

And I think it's staying like that

She deserves better , I think Justin can give her that.

A good life.

I was beginning to think Lucas would too , but I'm glad his name was old and well known on my list
