Dancing with the Stars

Start from the beginning

"That, Agent, doesn't sound like a frustrated sigh. It sounds as if you know exactly who's doing this."

"Oh, I know exactly who is doing this..." You murmured under your breath,"Can you check the cameras?"

"No, the camera that usually shows your desk broke," Of course "Just make sure the paperwork for this week is turned in by the time you leave."

You nodded and walked out of the room. You were probably three doors down when tears streamed down your face. You had to somehow make up 24 hours work of files in 4 hours. It was impossible. It was unfair. It was all Sharon's fault.

"Y/n?" A distinct voice said. You looked up briefly to see Steve standing there. You quickly brushed off any tears and walked briskly past him. You were about five feet away from him when he grabbed your arm.

"What's wrong?" He asked. You could have said his ex. You could have said something.

"Nothing," You said brushing off his arm.

"This doesn't look like nothing." He says waving a hand up and down.

"That's really nice," You said rolling your eyes.

"You know what I meant." He said. You proceeded to walk back to your desk, leaving behind a frustrated and confused Steve.

You were about halfway done with the paperwork when you decided to call Natasha. You knew that you still had a good twelve hours left with paperwork, so you weren't going to be at the tower until one or two in the morning.

"Hey Natasha," You said once she picked up.

"Hey y/n. Where are you? The team is about to eat dinner." You heard her say.

"I am not going to make it back to the Tower until two in the morning." You told her sighing.

"What? Why?" She asked.

"Sharon had been messing with my files all week. Fury wants them before I go home." You say. She muttered a string of curse words before responding.

"I am bringing Wanda and Clint. Hopefully, you won't have to go home that late" She says before hanging up.

Thirty minutes later, the trio arrived carrying a bag of food and coffee. You quickly grabbed the coffee, needing more energy. You saw as Clint looked through the files quickly sighing. Natasha handed you a sandwich, and she started to do the paperwork.

"You guys didn't really have to do this." You say finishing the coffee.

"It isn't fair to you," Clint says typing on the computer, "Just because Sharon doesn't like you doesn't mean it should cause this much trouble."

"I mean, I don't like Clint that much" Natasha jokes.

"Haha. Very funny Nat" he says.

"All I'm trying to say is Thank you. Also, Cap doesn't hear about this..." You say.

"I don't hear about what?" You froze, eyes widening. You could see that Clint and Natasha stiffened as soon as they heard it.

"Hey, Steve. What...What are you doing here?" You say turning to face him.

"Fury called me. What are you doing?" He asks motioning to your friends.

"Paperwork. I had a lot to do with all of the missions and stuff" You quickly say. He nods and walks off. As soon as he disappears, you release a breath you didn't know you had sucked in.

"He totally likes you." Clint says, "He knew you were totally lying and didn't say anything about it."

"Let's just focus you guys," You say before turning back to your paperwork.

About an hour later, you had finished all of your paperwork. You collected all of the files from the printer and marched them to Fury's office.

"Here are the files you asked for," You say placing them on his desk.

"Thank you, Agent. I was doing some digging and saw this video." He presses a button and a video starts to play. Although it was somewhat blurry, you could still see Sharon purposely swap her mission files with yours. It showed you coming back, and her yelling at you for taking her mission files. The video stopped and you turned back to him.

"Agent l/n, you know this work is unacceptable. Why didn't you say something?" He asks.

"Because it would have gotten worse," You say, "I can take her purposely messing with my work. I didn't want it to get any worse than it already was. I didn't want her to hurt my friends."

"Agent..." He says trailing off as he looks in the direction of the door. You turned and saw Steve looking at the wall, frowning.

"Tell me this didn't happen," Steve asks.

"Steve..."

"Tell me this didn't happen." He says, his hands clenched into tight fists.

"Captain, you are dismissed. Agent l/n, I will immediately be talking to Agent 13 to talk about consequences. You are also dismissed." You nodded and walked out.

"y/n," Steve said stepping in front of you.

"Move," You say looking ahead you.

"How long? How long have you dealt with this?" He says.

"A week, plus separate days when you guys had fought the night before," You say looking at the floor.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He asks.

"I didn't want to be the cause of...well what happened." You say trying to push past him.

"Y/n..."

"Steve, Look. I have to go, you probably have to too. Let's just forget this ever happened..." He cut you off by pressing a firm kiss to your lips.

"Can we forget everything but that?" He asks breathlessly.

"Yeah...yeah, we can" You answer, pressing another kiss to his lips.
