Jon Snow x Reader - We Are One

Start from the beginning

"Is something wrong?" Jon asked you, his gaze resting on you as you zoned back into what was happening. You hadn't realised that you had been frowning as you thought.

"No," you muttered softly, mustering up a small smile to give him before continuing. "I was just thinking."

"What about?" he pushed, watching your eyes drift to Pippa, who was sitting picking at the grass with her fingers, allowing the blades to fall onto the lap of her dress.

"Nothing," you told him quickly. "We can talk about it later," you added and he nodded as you shifted to grab Pippa's hands. "Please stop doing that, you'll stain your skirts," you told her softly.

"But-" she started but she stopped when she saw you frown slightly. "Can I go inside?" she asked, getting to her feet before you could answer.

"Yes, if that is what you want," you answered her, letting out a deep sigh when she had made it through the doors and into the keep. "What will I do with her?" you muttered softly, shifting to rest your head on Jon's shoulder.

"She's a child, she'll grow out of it," he answered, turning slightly to press his lips against the side of your head.

"She's eight," you groaned. "At her age I was much better behaved, and almost a full Lady," you continued and he let out a deep chuckle.

"All children are different," he started and you let out a bubble of laughter.

"That's something that naughty children say so that they can justify their own bad behaviour," you told him with a small smile, causing him to laugh again. "And by saying that you've incriminated yourself; she's like this because you were like it."

"I think you will find that I was very well behaved," he told you. "Just ask Theon when he visits next," he added and you snorted as you tried to hold back a laugh.

He prodded you slightly with his finger, making you jump and yelp before turning fully to face him. "I see now that it wasn't your fault that you were badly behaved and it was instead the terrible influence you had in the form of Theon Greyjoy," you murmured, watching as he smiled before pushing himself up to his feet.

"Come, My Queen, let us walk." Jon smiled as he spoke, holding out a hand to help you up and linking your arm through his as he started down the path and further into the gardens. "What was it that was on your mind?" he finally asked, causing you to sigh slightly.

"If we have a son we'll lose her," you told him softly. "There will be no reason for her to stay here, and she will likely marry some young lord from the North or the Reach," you paused for a moment. "If she were to be Queen there would be no reason for her to leave."

"We won't lose her, whether she marries or not, she will always be allowed to live in the Capital."

"But what if she doesn't want to?" You closed your eyes for a moment, taking a deep breath. "She already dislikes me for being too strict with her."

"She loves you, and she knows deep down that the reason you correct her behaviour is to protect her," he told you softly, freeing his arm to run his hand over your back. "You need to stop worrying so much or you will make yourself ill."

He was right, you knew it deep in your heart that Pippa didn't hate you, but it had always scared you. It was the fear that came with being the disciplinarian parent. Jon could rule a kingdom without a second thought, but the idea of scolding his daughter frightened him. "What if we have a son, and then she resents him for taking the crown from her?"

"You are so caught up in the 'What if's' that you seem to have forgotten who Pippa is," Jon told you softly. "She won't want to be Queen, she can hardly stand sitting in on court when she doesn't have to do anything, imagine her having to actually listen." You chuckled at the thought, he was right again.

"But-" you started, coming to a halt when he let out a chuckle.

"Everything will work itself out, whether we have another child or not," he uttered, turning you to face him and pressing a swift kiss to your lips. "We are a family and that won't change, no matter how many of us there are."

"Do you want another child?" you asked him, his hands still cupping your cheeks as he smiled down at you.

"Of course I do. If given the choice I would keep having children with you until we have a small army." You burst into laughter, fighting back tears at the idea of an army of curly haired little children running around the Red Keep causing chaos.

"I could be happy with a small army, though I doubt my body will ever forgive you," you answered through your laughter, causing him to join you as you buried your head into his chest.

*Time Skip*

"Children, please be careful," you called, your hand resting on your swollen stomach as Pippa hurried after one of her three younger siblings, grabbing the littlest girl before she could pull a jug of wine off of the table. "Thank you Pip; you're such a good girl," you murmured softly, as you struggled to get to your feet.

"Don't get up," she told you quickly, placing your youngest in your lap before standing up straight. "What do you need?"

"I wanted to speak with your father, but I doubt he'll be able to spare enough time to come back to our chambers," you told her softly. "It wasn't of importance," you reassured her with a small smile.

"I'll get one of the maids to come and help you. They really ought to be here all the time when you're this far along," she scolded you, shaking your head. "I still don't understand why you sent them away."

It wasn't long after she had disappeared into the hallways that there was a light knock on the door and it swung open to reveal Jon with a maid close behind him. "Good afternoon," he called into the room, causing the children to grow excited, rushing to him to wrap him in hugs.

"Hello, my love," you mumbled as he made his way over to you, pressing his lips to your forehead. "I have a suggestion," you told him and he nodded.

"Is that so?"

"I think an army would be too big; I think five will be enough for me," you murmured, allowing your hand to rest over your stomach and smiling up at him as he began to laugh.

"I agree," he answered quickly, giving you another kiss before scooping up two of the children in his arms. "Have you been hassling your mother?" he growled at them, causing them to wriggle in his arms, giggling wildly as they attempted to escape him. You had never been more content than in that moment, watching Jon with your children.
