"Now isn't the time for this Phil," said Dan. I looked at him and shook my head, scoffing as I turned around. He was the one crying onto my shoulder. He was the one blubbering on how no one else was there for him. But no, he didn't wanna ruin his perfect reputation as the perfect little pastel Christian boy who didn't deviate from any of the rules. Fuck him, I thought. I didn't need him. Besides, he was just my little experiment anyway. None of this was real. I just wanted to see if I could turn him and obviously, I couldn't. So why did it matter so much to me? Why did I care that he ignored me? Why did I still try to catch his eye in the halls; why did I light up when I saw him? It didn't make sense. All I knew was that I still wanted to spend time with him, to see his smile.

Night came. I opened my window and popped out my screen, jumping out and putting the screen back. As I made my way to the football field, I saw that Dan was already there. He had on a baggy grey jumper and faded black jeans, a blue flower crown resting in his hair. He was staring at a dandelion, smiling. I sat next to him.
"Hey Dan" I mumbled, trying not to startle him.
It didn't work.
He jumped up and stumbled back.
"Jeez Phil, you scared me" Dan laughed. He sat back down and picked the dandelion, twirling it between his fingers. "Anyway, we need to talk. I shouldn't be seen around you." I groaned.
"Why? Because I dress in black and have piercings. Your tiny little church family would disapprove?" Dan shot me a feigned dirty look.
"That, and you kinda have a reputation all over town. I don't know if you know this, but you're a bit of a fuckboy. I can't be around that because no, my family would not approve"
"Then let me prove to them I'm a good person and I like you and I don't know if you know this, but you're pretty cute and I like that and I wanna spend time with you" It all came out as one big breath. Dan blinked once, then twice.
"Okay"
