Gallys Pov

I got closer to the moaning.
Centimeter by centimeter, careful, trying not to scare him nor make him aggressive.
It was much darker in this corner of the cave.
My eyes started to adjust to the darkness and with every breath that I took my view cleared.
I was startled when a body flinched in front of me.

There he was, he laid on the ground, in all the mud and dirt.
His body was trembling because of his heavy breathing.
He looked like a beaten puppy, it broke my heart.

"Hey Newt...", I tried to say in a clam voice.
He turned around.
Just seconds ago I could only see the frame of his back but now with him turned around, facing me, I could see his completely lifeless eyes.
He just stared at me with those empty eyes.

"Gally?", he asked with a shaky voice.
"Yeah Newt, it's me... we got it... we have the cure!... you're safe now..." Something changed in his presence.
It was even more silent in the cave than it was already, like every sound died down in the flicker of a second.

"Newt ?... What...", I couldn't even finish, when I felt my self crashing to the ground with him on top of me.
I held my hands in front of my face to protect myself, he tried to bite me.
Suddenly the weight on top of my body disappeared.
I look around and see Harriet and Vince, both of them held Newt to the ground.
He reminded me of a wild animal.
I stared in shock, as he tried to fight them of by snapping his head up and down, left and right, biting and scratching but they held him.

"Gally!!! Come back to earth! The Cure! Do it! NOW!!!!", I hear Harriet shouting.
I snapped out of my trance.
I quickly crawled over, kneeling in front of Newt.
I had the cure in my hand, I took a deep breath and crashed the needle in his stomach.

He cried out in pain.
It was so loud that the three of us held our hands to our ears, blocking out the terrible screeching.
He stopped screaming after what seemed like ages and the cave went silent again.
I looked down at Newt, he probably blacked out.

I was wrong, as I looked him in the eyes I could see how the light came back and the red veins around his dark iris slowly drew away and so did the veins on his entire body.

He took a deep breath and blinked a few times and then, with a broken voice he spoke up, "G-Gally could-couldn't you... stab me with that needle... in-in a more c-comfortable spot? I swear to god... if you shank... c-come too close to me with... that needle ever again... then I will beat up your immune ass!"
I laughed, "Yeahhhh good to see you too my friend"
Newt smiled weakly and I laid my hand on his shoulder to comfort him.
I heard him whisper, "It's nice to be back"
I watched as he drove of into what seemed to be a peaceful slumber.
