Anya's POV
Gleb was very kind. He was there everyday and I always noticed him. His soft brown eyes and his warm and inviting smile, he was the one good thing in this cruel world I have to live in. I never knew my parents I was found abandoned. I lived in an orphanage until I turned nineteen then they let me go. It was hard finding a job but I finally found one as a street sweeper. It doesn't pay much but it's enough to live off of. I never met my family but it feels like something is telling me they are in Paris. I have been saving money to get a ticket to Paris and I finally saved enough. Today after my shift I'm going to the train station to get my passport and my ticket.

I just finished my shift. I start walking back to the main building when I bump into someone. I look up to meet the same sweet brown eyes I saw this morning.
"Hello comrade Gleb."
"Hello Anya."
I smile sweetly. I always get a funny feeling when I'm around Gleb. I feel like he's just like me.
"How was your day?"
"Same as always cold."
He chuckles.
"Russian weather sure is cold."
"Yes it is. How was your day Gleb?"
"Just another day patrolling Leningrad."
"Maybe tomorrow will be more exciting."
"Hopefully. Have a good night Anya."
"Have a nice night Comrade Gleb."
He gently grabbed my hand. His hands were warmer than mine. He was always warm. He shook my hand gently then released my hand. He smiled then started walking away. I blushed a little then started walking back to the main building.

"Hello I need one ticket to Paris please"
"Exit visa."
"Exit visa?"
"No exit visa, no ticket!"
I stepped out of line but an older woman stopped me.
"See Dimitri. He can help."
"Where can I find him?"
"At the old palace. But you didn't hear it from me. Go, go, go."
I started walking back to town and started making my way to the old winter palace.
