Behind the Scenes [Edited Version]

Prologue

I played with the tips of his hair using my fingers, absentmindedly rolling a few strands between the thumb and the index. All the while, I watched him sleep.

Kevin Montes really is a beautiful guy. His brown curly hair looks golden under the nightlight. His long lashes flutter occasionally as he dreams. His lips touch and part as he mutters in his sleep.

I heaved a sigh to contain my worry for his state.

Kevin just fell asleep from crying and complaining about how life is unfair to him. I don't agree with his claim but I admit, his situation is a difficult one: being gay and the only son of a well-known businessman. The attention, the pressure and the fear of tainting his father's name is too much for him.

He coped with it by keeping himself away from everyone. Everyone but me – his best friend and pretend girlfriend. My role is to help him hide his sexual orientation until he musters the courage to come out.

However, the inevitable happened: I fell in love with him. And since then, helping and protecting him became my life.
