Chapter 1: Meet Paige

Paige’s POV:

“Ariana, hurry up! We don’t have much time,” Edwin, who was the director of my current play, shouted.

Without a response, I looked at myself in the mirror, smiling. I had changed from that high school baby to an adult, a matured one.

Edwin, who was popularly known as Din, had been my boss for over two years. He was a man with sorrowful grey eyes, round nose, bald head, and a small delicate body.

“Coming, Din,” I replied sharply while calling him by the name people normally called him.

It was time to do my work: acting. I have acted in several plays and I was proud to say that I have won several awards for my acting skills. The first movie I performed in was given to me as a project in school, which was wonderfully done. That made my parents very proud of me.

“Ariana, if you don’t come here right now, I will happily fire you,” Din shouted as I chuckled at the threats that I have been receiving for the past two years.

“Aaargh, dammit! Just give me one minute! I’ll be there soon!” I said. I felt so nervous to perform this movie and I’m pretty sure it wasn’t because of it being the first action scene. It was because Ryan Montoya was going to be acting with me, as a lover of mine in this short play.

Ryan Montoya was a popular actor in my city. He had lots of fans, he was handsome, rich, and he has performed over a one hundred movies over the short period of his acting life. Yes, I have also performed in many movies, but not as much as he has. And no, I haven’t been featured in any of his movies, but we had a relationship long ago, before all this. I can remember some memories from our teenage years.

***Flashback***

“I just can’t believe it! We are through with high school,” Ryan said as he adjusted his big glasses on his nose, giving a nervous smile.

“Me neither,” I said, smiling cheekily.

Although we had graduated from high school a week before, I just couldn’t get over the fact that I was done with high school and neither could Ryan. I was so happy when Ryan called me, asking to hang out with him because I didn’t think I could stand being at home with my two annoying twin sisters.

Even though we were only sitting on a long wooden chair near a small shop and holding a cup of frappuccino, it was all I needed for now.

We chatted over random and irrelevant things for some time, until he said that he would have to leave soon, to which I merely groaned in response.

Standing up slowly, he scratched his head and looked down nervously. “Hmm, Paige? Will you be busy later this evening?” he asked.

I thought for a while before I gave him a reply, “I don’t think so. There’s nothing much to do at home, I guess. Why do you ask?” I said, trying to taunt him a little as I internally chuckled. Just internally.

“I’m not busy at home and I feel like it would be boring, so I think we can each go out together and maybe have dinner along with some drinks? Just you and I?” he said, still looking down.

“Are you asking me out?” I said, laughing.

“It’s okay to say no,” He immediately said, blushing.

“Of course not,” I answered quickly.

“So, would you be able to make it?” he asked.

“Just give me an address and time and I’ll be there,” I said to him.

“That’s great! I will text you where we can meet,” he said, looking like he had accomplished one of his many goals.

“Alright. I’ll be expecting your text,” I said, leaving him with a smile on his face.

***End of Flashback***

I looked at myself one more time in the mirror and I saw that I was ready. I sighed and went out.

A/N:

How did you like this chapter?

Although the first six chapters might not seem intriguing, I promise that if you continue reading, there is light at the end of the tunnel. What I mean is that it will get a lot better after the first six chapters.

Chapters get longer (1000 words) by chapter seven. So don't hate that it is too short.

So read on.
