Mice Taste Disgusting!

'I'm off to see Bear!' says the little brown mouse,
As he closes the door of his little brown house.
'I'd better go quickly; it's starting to rain.
I've not got a brolly. Oh gosh! What a pain!'

I might take this shortcut that goes through the wood,
I'd get there much faster. I think that I should.
It's getting quite chilly; I don't want to freeze,'
Says the mouse as he runs down a path through the trees.

He's thinking of Bear and the games that they'll play
And the fun that they'll have on this wet winter's day.
He doesn't look up as he scurries along.
He's twitching his whiskers and singing a song.

When all of a sudden, from out of the blue,
A big booming voice in his ear shouts, 'IT'S YOU!'
And the next thing he knows, to his widest surprise
He is staring right into the goggly eyes

Of a big ugly troll with a nobbly nose,
Fat sausage fingers and long hairy toes.
'No!' shrieks the mouse, 'Not again! No! No! No!'
'Ha ha!' says the troll. 'Now I won't let you go!

'You tricked me before (though I can't work out how)
But you won't do it this time! I'll eat you right now!
I won't take you home and I won't make a stew.
I'll open my mouth, drop you in and then chew.'

The mouse squeaks and whimpers. He's waving his paws.
The troll tips his head back and opens his jaws.
He lifts up the mouse and gets ready to drop.
'No, Mister Troll!' says the mouse. 'No! Please stop!

'Your teeth will destroy me! They'll pound and they'll crush,
They'll chomp and they'll grind. I'll be turned into mush!
I really don't want to get chewed to a pulp.
Swallow me whole! I'll go down in one gulp.

'In fact, if you promise you'll swallow, not chew,
I'll help you to eat me. I know what to do.'
'Help me?' the troll says and furrows his brow.
'And how will you do that, small mouse? Tell me how!'

'I'll make it so easy. You won't need to stand.
You won't need to hold me or lift up your hand.
Just lie on the ground with your mouth open wide.
I'll run to your mouth and I'll jump right inside.'

The troll rubs his chin and says, 'Hmm, yes, I see.
That certainly would make it easy for me.'
'Okay then,' the mouse says, 'Now put me down, please.'
Troll puts down the mouse and then gets to his knees.

'Just lie on your front and right here, put your chin.
Then open your mouth up so I can jump in,'
Says the mouse, 'And I think you should close both your eyes.

'Are you ready?' says Mouse. 'Er er er!' Troll replies.
(His mouth is wide open; he can't really speak,
But Mouse understands and replies with a squeak)

The troll's open mouth is as big as a cave,
But the little brown mouse is incredibly brave.
He starts counting down, 'Six five four three two one.
'Here I come!' says the mouse. Now he's starting to run.

He runs to the mouth just as fast as he can,
But he stops halfway there. Little Mouse has a plan.
He picks up a pine cone that's covered in mud
And throws it inside where it lands with a thud,

On the troll's giant tongue and he swallows it whole.
The mouse quickly hides and then, 'Yuck!' says the troll.
'Pooh! That's revolting! It's totally gross!'
He spits and he splutters and turns up his nose.

'It's foul! It's repulsive! It tastes really bad!
It must be the worst food a troll's ever had!
Mice taste disgusting! I've learnt that today.
I'll never eat mice again. Never! No way!'

The troll walks away and now Mouse is alone.
He slowly comes out from behind a big stone.
'Well, that was a close one. I got quite a scare!
But now the troll's gone, I can go and see bear.

I can go and have fun with my very good friend,'
Says the little brown mouse.
And
That
Is
The
End.
