Michael's POV

I sat outside the stable, dreading what was to come. Why did I have to do horse riding lessons? I would rather be inside, working on mathematics. While my parents wished for me to be the valiant prince the ladies swooned over. However, they got me. A socially awkward, nerdy prince who hated sports. Also very gay. What a winning combo for getting all the ladies.

I sighed as Sir Reyes approached me.

"You ready, kid?"

I shook my head.

"No. I don't think I ever will be."

"C'mon, sometimes we have to do things we don't like. I could be the star of theatre, but here I am, a horse riding coach in New Yesrej. I also frickin' hate horses."

"Ugh. Fine. Let's get started."

"Hey, it could be worse. You are part of the top 1% in this country. Don't forget it."

I nodded solemnly. Yeah, riches and gold were nice, but did they replace freedom?

Jeremy's POV

I sighed as I walked by my dad's passed out body. Probably from overworking yesterday. After my mom left, he all but worked himself to death. Still, we were short on money. So,, after the coming of my 17th birthday, I got myself a job at the royal stables.

I looked down upon entering the stables, avoiding eye contact. I was just here to work. No need to make friends.

Lost in my extreme focus on my boot laces, I bumped into someone.

I looked up to see knights armor, with a special crest. I stared at that person's chest, deciphering which lordship he was from.

"Umm.... Hi?"

The stranger looked down at me. He had a small mole by his eye, large glasses that framed his face, and unkempt black hair.

"Oh, um, hello! Sorry to bother you, I'll be on my way."
He looked at me in such a manner in which I felt it would be rude to walk away, so I slowly backed up.

"It's okay. Could I catch your name?"

"Yeah. Sure. Heere, Jeremy Heere. I work at the stables, starting today."

"I'm Michael."

He took my hand and shook it, his kind smile gleaming at me. I shook it back, a small blush forming amongst my cheeks. What a gentleman.

As I was about to let go of his hand, his grip tightened. In one swift motion, he knelt down and kissed my hand. With a wink and a small wave, he was gone.

Michael's POV

Oh my god. Oh my god, I can't believe I just did that. Did he notice how much I was blushing? What a lovely stranger. Or Jeremy, as I had learned. Is it possible to fall in love at first sight? Lost in my thoughts, I came to a rude awakening as my head banged into a pole.

Still delirious, I carried on and approached Sir Reyes.

Jeremy Heere, I can't wait to see you again.

Jeremy's POV

I watched as my new acquaintance strolled off, and then rammed into a pole.

I cringed, but giggled. What a funny person. Michael.

Never got his last name though. What could it be? Maybe his crest had something to do with it. As I remembered what it looked like, realization hit me.

That was Michael Mell. The crown prince.
