"Come in." He sighed, moving aside so that Nora could skirt past him and into his office.
"What is it you wish to ask me?" He said, putting one hand in his pocket and ruffling his hair with the other.
"Uh...it's just that...err, do you think Tifa could stay for dinner tonight?"
"Stay for dinner? Why? Weren't you ready to send her packing this very morning?" Quinton said with a quirked eyebrow.
"Sort of."
"What inspired this change of heart?"
"We had a nice chat this evening and she seems pretty down to Earth. I couldn't possibly allow her to leave without offering her dinner."
"Funny. I didn't know you were in charge of such decisions."
"Maybe the power hasn't been vested to me officially....but it's about time that I start begin given some responsibilities around here."
"Who gave you those notions?" Quinton said, leaning against his desk, his tan forearms crossed across his chest.
"Myself. I'm tired of being treated like a piece of furniture around here."
Nora wanted to be the author of her life story, not having others write it for her.
Quinton bemused smirk fell and he pushed himself off the desk and approached Nora where she stood.
"Do you really expect me to bestow upon you responsibilities when you have a hard time listening to one simple rule – respect."
"Oh well my father always taught me that respect is a two way street."
"I think we're both aware that your father wasn't the best teacher."
"Don't speak about my father that way!" Nora bristled.
Quinton moved closer to Nora, making them chest to chest.
"I'm only telling -"
Quinton stopped speaking suddenly – cocking his head. Nora was unsure of what made him halt. Quinton sniffed the air and then bent his head, sniffing the crook of Nora's neck and going down her arm. bewildered, stepped back only to be have her arm grasped by Quinton's hand.
"You smell." Quinton said, his lip curling.
"What the hell? And I'm the rude one?"
"I smell Blaine on you. Why?" His grip tightened.
Nora was taken aback at the question and for a moment was unsure of how to respond.
"I bumped into him earlier..." Nora answered, shrugging her shoulders. "What's the big deal?"
"The big deal is that I don't know why you are carrying another male's scent on you." He barked.
"You're blowing things out of proportion!"
Nora tried to tug herself out of Quinton's hold, but he only held on tighter.
"This must be corrected."
Before Nora could ask what he meant by that statement she was whisked into the air by her waist and carried effortlessly to Quinton's desk. He plopped her down and stared down at her, rumbling low in his chest.
